Just kidding. My family was never rich. But I've never gone a night without a roof over my head or without a meal on the table. That's all I ever needed and now I'm a year or so away from graduating college. It wasn't easy, but I got through it by working hard. Not fricking "white privilege"

I have a friend (white) that grew up with just his dad. They weren't homeless or anything, but they were definitely poor. Yet he always rants about white privilege and he feels bad for black peiple because apparently they're the only ones that have it tough. It's really baffling.

Yep, but you can't convince a lot of people. There seems to be some assumption that if you are white, you automatically have it easier than people who are black. It's a ridiculous thought.
As you said, I also grew up in a poor neighborhood, my parents were working class poor people, but they were married, loved their kids, and worked every day to provide for us, and we always had food, and shelter. My dad had a 8th grade education, and my mother a 9th grade education. But they worked everyday to make a life for their kids.

That's all it takes, regardless of color. It's a desire to better yourself from your current circumstances and that's where the conversation is shouted down. Like having to work for what you have is a sin or something.

Yeah that's why all the other races are always trying to immigrate to white (formerly white, at least) countries, so they can be oppressed by all the privilege that made those countries nice places to live.

I graduated from LSU with a small group. One of the worst GPA students had businesses drooling all over there-selves wanting to hire him if he could graduate. There wasn't that much else out there for the majority of us in that field.
