Seems all people that sell water sprinkles or gutters now use foundation damage excuses to make their products a MUST DO and not just a convenience anymore. Basically if you don’t have gutters and proper watering methods, your foundation will crack and destroy your house.

Or are houses built so cheap now that a foundation can’t handle a little inconsistent weather?

Seems a little fishy to me. What you think, OT?

It's to prevent shrinkage of the soil holding up your foundation.

no, it can cause major issues... especially if your foundation is near giant oaks sucking up all the water they can with an added extended dry spell. Had a cracked foundation & door jam issues. Door issues were fine after plenty of rain. It’s not a scam, but does seem like a situational need.

It was recommended 35+ years ago in Houston when we had a bad drought and lots of houses built on slabs. Don't know how much earlier than that it was being recommended.

Could it have something to do with houses that exploded in the NOLA metro area after gas lines under the slabs broke?
