That is an ideal scenario for a big guy. There is no escape

Most people don't pay attention. Much less kids.

99% of the time, I'm watching, but even I get caught off guard. Guy at work started carrying concealed, and I hadn't noticed. Odd for me.

I am pretty damn good at picking up on shite before it happens. Only time I got caught off guard was when I got off work about 16 years ago I went into a Winn-Dixie to get my daughter some baby formula after working all night. I was checking out when 2 black guys ran in with guns and held the place up myself, the manager, and the cashier were held at gunpoint in the office while helping the thieves load up the money in bags. Just glad I wasn't shot.

I got a spyderco buried in my forearm about 10 years ago in NOLA.

Changed my outlook a bit.

Yep. You just get alot more aware of your surroundings. I try to pass this experience to my kids so they can try to avoid situations like this.

If you were a true baw, your kids would be baws by default and therefor wouldn't have to put up with no thugs or being robbed.

If this is what you consider street smart then no most young people don’t have it... I say let them get robbed though. They will figure things out soon enough

I have several friends that just don't get that dangerous situations can happen anywhere. My gf is convinced that if she isn't in certain parts of town, then she's safe.

At night, never let someone approach you from behind. Make eye contact with people you think might be up to something. New friends are not instantly trustworthy. Etc...Etc..

They don’t spend enough time on the street to be street smart.

How about "are" instead of "is"?
