WTF? No bullshite, when I was young.. I have a big family, a bunch of cousins my age or close in age. My grandparents lived "down the bayou" and that's how everybody learned to swim. Of course this was 40 something years and no one is swimming in that bayou today, but older siblings, uncles, etc would throw your arse in the bayou then it seemed like there was always someone in the water that would be like "look, this is all you have to do"..
That was back when if someone was scared a water moccasin would come around and they would tell you "just splash a little water in its face and you will be alright"..

Agree! As others have mentioned, this is Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) training. We enrolled our 4-year-old and 1.5-year-old in the program both at 6-months to learn the “float” technique and were impressed with results. Both can already confidentially swim and thus are now much safer around our backyard pool. Well worth the investment to avoid an all-too-common disaster.

I grew up on a lake in NZ when I was very young. My father threw me on my 3rd birthday after teaching the basics. He figured if you are going to live on water you better learn how to swim as well as you can walk on land.

Wife's stepmom paid for these lessons for our son as a birthday present. It was basically him bawling his eyes out for 15 min sessions. Once they were done, he was scared shitless of pools for a few months, so they didn't work for us. He can swim now and can't get enough of the pool and beach.
