Every time I think I've seen rock bottom stupid on here, someone shows up and sets a new, yet lower, bar.
ALL military salutes have very specifically defined movements and postures. ALL of them, since the time of the Roman Legions. Miss any aspect of it in a very public, high profile event like that, and it's not a salute. It's just another hand gesture.
Nazi's were, as Germans usually are, sticklers for details on how theirs was to be performed. It is a lot more than just where your hand ends up. What Musk did in no meaningful way is a Nazi salute, doubly so once his words place it in context.
