My career path has changed...significantly. But yes, I used to deal with a lot of wooks, custies, and general hippies. Perks of living outside of Asheville.

There are a few fairly big companies I deal with on a daily basis and two of them are considering transitioning to permanent work from home status as this has been a test run for them and it has worked.
I was impressed with how quickly they were able to transition considering their size and multiple office locations in different states. It is apparently something they were already considering and they are each satisfied with how it is working so far. Being able to get out of expensive office leases and the overhead associated with a physical space is also a motivating factor as well.
I said this virus would have permanent changes in society, as history has always shown that to be the case when these things are over, so maybe this will be one positive of this. If so, it will be interesting to see the economics of it considering office spaces will be empty and things like daycare will be less of a demand.
Not sure if we'd go fully, but I think we'd definitely consider going 1 day a week at the office for meetings, etc and the rest at home. Our staff are largely saying they actually get more done at home than in an office setting.

I'd love for the OL to be able to work from home when she isn't on the road, traveling the state, with her work.
More employers should do it, especially state offices. Wife is in her office, maybe 1 day a week, rest visiting other Mo state offices, so why keep making it her place of work?

I love the WFH model. No commute. No dressing up to impress the big wigs. Our company does internet credits/reimbursement. Also, if someone needs to come in to fix the sink or I have something being delivered, I don’t have to use my time off to go home. If I was in a fully wfh model I could consider moving out of the city to a small town with a less expensive cost of living. I have a feeling companies with younger CEOs/management have been ahead of this curve, but the older ones are realizing how efficient it can be, and will adapt moving forward.

My company was split with about 40% WFH and 60% in house, as we are split between New Orleans and Madison, WI but have employees all over the country. Right now we are 100% WFH, but will go back to the norm after. Our in house folks need face time with the 'customers'.
I've WFH for the last 5 years and love it, but its not for everyone. You have to have self discipline and loving what you do helps a ton.
A few tips I've learned over the last couple years..
Get somewhat dressed everyday. I used to stay in boxers all day for a while. Yes it's more comfortable and I still worked hard, but getting somewhat dressed helps put you in the correct mindset, plus my wife doesn't think I'm a bum.
Get a real computer or docking station. You can either buy a Tower or get a dock for your laptop, either way, get a full keyboard, full mouse, and as many monitors as you need to be productive. Also if you do alot of Teams, Skype, GotoMeeting, Zoom, etc, get USB speakerphone and USB headset. These are great and I don't tie up my cell or land line.
Set up somewhere 'away' from all the normal activity centers in your house. When I walk in my home office, I'm 'at work'. My wife understands this and so do my kids. That doesn't mean they can't or won't walk in and talk to me, they do, but also they understand if I'm in a meeting or busy, they may have to wait.
The major con is its so easy to walk to the fridge or pantry between tasks all day long. I gained weight the first year, but by year 2 cut that off and started doing a 30 min workout between meetings or task. If I have enough time, I'll even drive over the gym which is 5 min away.
One last one..Facerig.. Look it up, you can buy it off steam. It intercepts your camera and changes you to look like whatever. I join meetings as a Cat with a headset or a raptor all the time just for kicks.

I already work remote, so it’s kinda funny to see people losing their minds at home. This weather has been perfect for working mornings on the patio, lunch, wrap up loose ends, then a beer and relaxation.
All of my work is done via email communication so video calls and whatnot aren’t anything I need to worry about. I do not get dressed into real clothes.
