If you run in the quick-e mart and grab a 64 oz soda, it's not going to hurt. Just roll the windows down.

Why is this a thing?
Because people leave their kids in hot cars and they die.
Go back to taking pictures from your rented car.

OP is right and it's because of the 24-hour news cycle and because people are mentally and emotionally weak now. And I'm not just talking about cuck SJWs

Is that considered a "hot car"?

You know all those fancy child locks? They work. Probably killed this kid.

Are the numbers commensurate with the hysteria that's now taking place? That's the question.

Why don't you first work on your ole lady letting you fertilize an egg of hers before you worry about parenting issues, you vain lil bitch.

Roger, I know that in Juneau, 75 is "hot" - we have different issues with heat down here below the Manson-Nixon line.

In the eyes of do gooders, probably so.

A bit off topic but do you let them see you naked? I don’t know if it’s just me but it always feels super creepy when a bird sees me naked.

People definitely overreact, but our current culture demands everything be a full on 11 in the outrage department.
Hell, there are people that will break a window when they see a 7 year old left alone in a running car.

My sister and I were routinely left in the car as children. My mom wasn't a retard so she either cracked the windows or left the car running with the doors locked.

I think it's a valid argument on if the numbers actually reflect the hysteria.
A quick web search shows approx 35 children die per year being left in a car.
What is the number of deaths that should drive a cultural change?
This is why the OP is correct. The number of people that die each year from falling down stairs is more.
A lot more.
People just enjoy being outraged.
Oh and...
MUH children

Also picked my kid up from daycare and heard the woman at the front desk as a lady where there new younger baby was. Girl says "in the car still, it's too much of a pain to get her down and back in just to run in and pick up her son". My jaw is on the floor. I couldn't imagine leaving an infant in the car no matter what the situation. Car was running so it wasn't a heat issue, but still. What if someone decided at that moment to do a smash and grab (it's happened there before and this was a nice Mercedes). I actually sat in my car in the parking lot and watched that car until she came out. I just felt uneasy leaving a baby on it's own in the parking lot.
Leaving an infant in the car for 5 minutes while it's running and locked is blasphemous to society, but why?
A smash and grab? What if someone runs over the mom in th parking lot while she's carrying her infant into the daycare? I can come up with plenty of what ifs that are just as bad if not worse than leaving the kid in the car in that situation.

Pecker is right here. I get it with infants, but a 7 year old knows how to open a car door. I stayed in the car all the time as a kid. My mom would either leave it running if it was hit or crack the windows. Obviously, it didn't affect me as I'm smarter, better looking, and way better at the internet than all you nerds.

I sometimes sit in my car and read emails that come through right as I turn my car off. If it’s longer than 5 or so minutes, it becomes unbearable and I have to start the car again.
