Is the Garden District in NO considered a safe place to be?

I know in NO if you aren't in the wrong place you'll be safe from crime

The safest place in New Orleans is probably the ghettos. They won't rob you if they think you're poor.

Damn I used to live a block from there. Biggest issue I ever had was found a homeless man sleeping on my front porch one night. Wasn't the cause, but it hastened my move out of the city. $1,200 bucks in rent to deal with armed robbery in your neighborhood isn't for me. Can't imagine what the guy who paid $600,000 for his house on Philip and Camp is thinking.

Honestly, what did you say or do? Did you nudge him say, "How do you like your eggs?."

I absolutely love uptown/garden district but the price to live there is absurd. This on top of the fact that your 12 year old neighbor will rob you at any point. What I don't understand why hasn't the rise real estate prices hit the TPOS doing these robing yet. Meaning how can it be that much cheaper to live in Central City when a few blocks over one will pay $1200 for a 1 br on Prytania and one of the Muses streets.
As for the safest area to live at in Nola, I may be bias, but it has to be the warehouse district.

I've always viewed it as a pretty safe neighborhood, particularly during the middle of the day.
I have spent many weekends this year walking up and down Magazine and have never once questioned my safety or well-being.
Between this and the armed robbery near Audubon a couple of weeks ago, I'm not sure I will ever view it in the same light again.

These areas are a lot safer than Bywater, Uptown and areas of Mid City but you still hear of robberies and such. Nothing I guess out the ordinary from any other suburban neighborhood in a city with a lot of poor people.
