Uh which one is the concrete jungle?

I lived in Frisco, McKinney, and now Dallas and had plenty of green and concrete around me in all 3.

I know right. People hear Dallas or Houston and think only of the busy downtown area, never inside the actual city where there are neighborhoods with homes with fences and large backyards.

I'm on the neighborhood app and people are losing their damn mind about this possibility. A lot of them are older folks it seems and they think it going into the lot near DFW would make grapevine a crime zone and ruin housing. Cracked me up. I do enjoy the smallish city feel to grapevine and i live a minute from the lake. Don't think amazon would ruin that.

I don't see how 50,000 employees making an average salary of $100,000 a year will increase crime. I, too, believe the location will be the Grapevine acreage at DFW. If I'm correct, it's around 800 acres. Regarding "ruin housing", I just don't see it. Our Grapevine property values would shoot through the roof.

I'm about two blocks from the high school near Phaar Park. My house backs up to Bear Creek.

Careful what you wish for, my house has appreciated a substantial amount since 2014. Would be great if I plan to sell and move out of the area, instead I'm merely paying taxes on the extra value.

And your property taxes would follow

I have no problem with that. The home appreciation would far out weigh the effect from increased taxes.

We purchased a home this summer and we knew property tax was high compared to baton rouge but that was like a slap in the face, knee to the groin, and topped off with a finger in the arse. The city has set their ceiling for population at around 50k and have stayed there for quite a while. They keep rejecting condos, town homes, and new subdivisions. Amazon employees aren't going to flock to Grapevine alone. Like everyone else they'll spread out across DFW into areas they're comfortable with. But I don't think they're coming here. Still betting on Boston or Denver.

Only if you sell and move out of the area.

If they come here, the whole area will feel it, but I bet mainly Collin county. As someone else posted, Frisco, Plano, and Allen ISDs are some of the best in Texas.

I don't dislike the area but the water sucks to high hell. I drank unfiltered water from a Wendy's after we got in from a late flight and I have never tasted water that bad. Lake water has to be a consideration in quality of life....and yes I know there are tons of tech job opportunities and everything but unless I just was in a bad area (Legacy) that's some nasty water.

Definitely. There are some great schools in that area too for families to look for. Coppell is good as well and could probably handle some more growth.

And the people in that area are lucky with the location of lone star bev being close. They have the best craft beer selection i've seen so far in the area. Luckily a good friend lives in carrollton so it's a good reason to be over there. Plus there's a Rockler store Frisco (several in DFW I think) I went to last weekend. Damn that place has a lot of neat stuff i wish i could buy.

My water comes from the lakes and it tastes fine. I almost never use the water from my fridge filter.

The you should be good to go.

I would love to sell, but we love the area. When you factor in the schools, our careers, quality of life it's a no brainier for us to stay.

This Texan thinks the best regions have the least amount of people and concrete.

So no. Within a 50 mile radius of Dallas is not in the running.
