You are skipping the operative word in that sentence, COULD.

JaMarcus lacked the hard work or dedication it took to be an NFL quarterback BUT things COULD have work out differently had he landed in New England with Belichick.

You love to argue in bad faith.

A lot, but if JR was drafted into a franchise like New England w/ a GOAT level coach... things could be very different.

Couldn’t it have been both? The raiders were the worst run and least stable franchise in the league when Jamarcus was there. A revolving door of OC’s and HC’s with a turnstile o-line protecting a giant statuesque QB. He had tried holding out (pulling an Eli) so they would trade him, but they refused. It’s not shocking what happened after that.

He is at least smart enough to ignore the points that defeat his argument

Not really. Anyone who has ever met Jamarcus knows that he is anything but dumb, just lazy. He felt the Raiders were a hopeless situation, so he milked them for every last cent, avoided taking too many hits, had fun, and then left football having made a shite ton of money.

I'd argue that it's more your family, as a whole. I've known people with some absolutely shitty parents, but they had a great support system of siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents that helped them overcome their shitty parents.

fair enough

Dude could move a little when he had to, but he wasn’t a scrambler. And he weighed 300 pounds!

No, if jamarcus lands in New England he still has to do his job. He still has to learn, he still has to practice. Yes, the people and location are different. It is still up to jamarcus to do his part to make himself better.

Maybe he didn’t want to do his job because of the people he was working for? Bad managers are adept at killing the drive in their employees.

Now you’re making excuses for him in an attempt to validate your point.

It was still jamarcus’ decisions that caused his failure.

If you can't acknowledge the difference in competence in the Raiders and Patriots and they effect it will have on players you are a lost cause.

You are just being willfully obtuse.

You’re arguing pure nature. I’m stating nature and nurture each play a role.

Can you quantify how much luck a particular person has?

Sure you can assign numerical values to certain outcomes to quantify luck. What's your point?

So you’re saying you can actually determine the amount of luck certain people have?
