I blew through the Destin bridge photo toll last September with an out of state dealer tag.

Never got a letter.

Free ride.

No problem paying the toll it just seems odd or not right having to pay to use a publicly funded road.

The tolls across the Ohio River you're referencing are to pay for the bridges that have been built/expanded, via private (toll) money

The bigger question is why do they bother with the automatic toll reader if they can just photograph your license place and send you a bill in the mail.

Because pay by mail is way less efficient. Put a tag on your car and attach a credit card and everybody goes on with their lives.

I did the same on the Sam Houston tollway and also got away with it. Maybe that's the secret. Throw some temp tags on and roll on through.

7 quarters has never been an issue for me. Ever.

Varies from state to state, county to county. As far as legality, it's authorized in state legislation with statutes tailored to the specific road/system your'e using.

That stretch of toll only took EZ tags which I didn't have yet since I had just purchased the car. It was my fault as I thought the toll started at the next exit. No choice once you are on but to blow through.

If you're referring to the toll on the bridge when crossing into Indiana/Kentucky in Louisville, yeah it's legal and real. I've had to pay that toll a good few times. Much easier than stopping traffic. They have posted signs and exits before hand.
