Is our society ever going to get over “The N Word”?

*Note: please don’t use the actual word here and get banned or worse*
This situation is ridiculous. A supposed advanced civilization that is at the mercy of a WORD.

One fricking Word.

One word, used even in an indirect descriptive can cost you your entire livelihood and put you in the headlines. Yet if we use the first letter and other punctuation behind it or refer to it as the “N-word” it’s okay - even though we all know what you meant. But I guess the fact that you didn’t actually write it and made an effort to hide it makes it okay. Surely the same notion of how stupid this is must strike every thinking person when they hear it come up?!?

And the outrage here is surely not due to a liking of the stupid word, or any accompanying racist bullshite, just at how pathetic it is that that one word has our entire society on edge.

This is pure liberal idiocracy.

Seriously, are we ever going to be over this?

ETA: I actually RA’d myself just to try and get an admin look on if this is even okay.

It's because idiots in today's society think they have the right to not be offended and if someone offends them, they are a victim of a crime. Morons. Everyone.

Do you mean will people ever stop using it, or will people ever stop being offended by it?

Most of society is over the word.

People who are offended by it are either pretending or are being told to be offended.

My two favorite top 40 songs by Drake and Bruno Mars reference that word dozens of times. How am I supposed to sing the lyrics, feels like a trap.

You are the exact kind of scum that empowers this garbage belief system. Funny that it eats your kind at least half as much as the rest.

That's an excellent question. I feel as if I may have figured out an appropriate answer which we may all live in harmony with. When you are sitting at a light, loudly rapping to your favorites, substitute the word neighbor.

It will solve everything, stopping more crime than the removal of every statue ever made.

Thank me later.

As a kid we were taught the saying “sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me”.
I guess the following generation missed that one and now we have let a single word ruin people regardless of context, etc.
Hate is the real issue, and when used as hate it is wrong. The problem is everyone is so damn hypersensitive and used to playing the victim it apparently is always used with the intent of hate now.
We are so soft and don’t have enough real problems in this country so we have made up new ones. Sad.

Maybe after years of it being watered down and people simply forgetting. It is honeslty alot like Germany is towards ANY type of nazi symbolism; there is simply history in that part of the world that people still feel today. Therefore there is zero tolerance towards anything even slightly resembling nazi ideology in that part of the world .
The n word has double meaning today as it did back then. nothing to do with liberalism; but instead everything to do with American culture, time, and history.

“sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me”

Words are evrything, words are a form of communication that changes and adjust throughout time.
Words can hurt, Words can heal so worlds have power to convey anything.
Words can offer closure or resolution and they can also bring someone down..

This saying was to prevent a bullied kid from feeling so defeated at a primary level, but not to ignore the context or meaning of the uses of words.

Don't,
they are part of the problem.
The way Drake idolize and promotes a dangerous lifestile to an already crippled culture is far worse than any "word"
