Is it wrong for a private school to brag about higher testing scores? (Twitter battle)

There is a little Twitter war going on between Catholic High's football coach (Gabe Fertitta) and a Zachary Assistant Baseball Coach (Jimbo Walker).
Gabe Fertitta posts:
Then Jimbo replys:
Right now has 2.2K likes
What is everyone's opinion on this? It's very intriguing.
My opinion: Honestly it just sounds like jealousy from Jimbo. Fertitta never compared CHS to "students that have special needs or come from poverty," he compared CHS to the entire state as a whole, which includes other private schools. It shows how much better his school is compared to others.
Also I'm sure CHS has some outliers in their student body as well.
Gabe Fertitta posts:
Then Jimbo replys:
quote:
(laughing emoji) what a joke!
Hey, let’s compare the richest, most privileged kids in Baton Rouge to public school students that may have special needs or come from poverty.
Ignorance is bliss.

I'm a CHS grad from many years ago and I can see both sides of it. Lot of truth coming from the Zachary side, but CHS dickriders will call it jealousy.

Ain't none of them nerds playing football for Catholic.

The catholic coach can’t be proud of the results for his school? Jimbo needs to stay in his lane.

Let me sum this up.
Olden days - Being the best was what everyone strived for and it was OK to acknowledge when you achieved it.
Today - Being best is (classist/racist/insert something here) and is to be hidden from others. You didn't build that and it takes a village and exceptionalism is a bad thing, etc.

Is it wrong for Lexus to point out the many benefits you get for investing in their product, which is much more expensive than a 10k car that will get you to the same place at the same speed?
Answer one and you will answer the other.

Intelligence and high academic achievement is present all across all socio-economic levels, so I don't really like the response to that picture. That said, private schools do have many, many inherent advantages than many public schools do. But there's no problem touting their success in that area.

Jimbo is being a jackass on this one.

Catholic's numbers are rookie, honestly. Gotta pump those numbers up

my daughter went to a private school K-12 that cost more than tuition at LSU, it was nauseating to hear some of the snobby assertions and boasts that school made, but it was so common that the kids and parents thought that's the way it was and bought into it

If Fertitta just posted the image of the scores, i dont see anything wrong with it. It seems like hes just proud of his players and his schools academic abilities
BUT if he captioned it with something like "LOL @ all other schools in this state and across the country! Bunch of idiots." then i would have a problem with it

It should be beneath Catholic to even argue with Zachary
I hope he got no response from Catholic coach

I take the Zachary side on this.
Catholic has every right to be proud of their stats, but to compare them to any public school is about as "apples to oranges" as it gets. Zachary coach is right...the public schools have plenty of kids that are going to score low on the ACT that Catholic wouldn't ever come close to admitting to their school.

Same here. Comparison to other private schools in the state/region would be more relevant, but obviously not as drastic of a difference.

I don't see anything wrong with competing. Only makes people want to do better.

I like that i went to public school in north Louisiana and mopped those CHS numbers.

People representing Catholic institutions should stay clear of smack talking.
