I always hit them if they're in the way. Doesn't bother me one bit

That's not the issue to me. The problem I have with not placing them in the designated area is that they are in the way if people trying to park and they can be blown or bumped into vehicles. I've come back to my truck on multiple occasions to find and abandoned shopping cart resting against it. It's infuriating because it shows a lack of consideration not only for the workers of the establishment, but also for the customers that shop there and their property.

Let me guess. You are one of the lazy asses that also park along the fire lane in front of the store so you can " just run in and get a few things "

As a teen I worked at Home Depot for a while, and I sometimes had the unfortunate duty of being one of the cart boys. People who left them all over the place made it pretty annoying. Sure, we were paid (at least when given that task) to do it, but ideally we'd get them from the drop.
Given my obvious authority on this subject, I think
A) It's always unacceptable in normal lots. Like grocery stores and normal shopping areas.
B) It's usually unreasonable in large lots, like Home Depot, Wal Mart, etc.
C) If you're way out in one of the large lots and there isn't a place to put it, group them together and keep them out of anyone's way. For example, at Home Depot/Lowes they often have the garden section stretching into the parking lot. Putting carts next to the pine straw truck is fine, IMO.

I leave them. But every 7 visits or so I round them all up so it balances out.

Yes it's trashy as frick.
Just pure laziness. What's almost as bad in the folks who have the "courtesy" to put them over the curb in the grass to get it out of the parking spot, not knowing or caring that continually doing that just kills the grass these business are paying to keep up.
Only thing worse is those who leave dirty diapers in the fricking parking lot.

I wouldn't say trashy, but it's definitely inconsiderate and lazy as frick.
Two hallmarks of trashy people.

Aren't you from the south? Don't y'all call them "Buggy's"?
Posted on 5/2/16 at 12:23 pm to Henry Jones Jr
If there's a return area nearby, I'll use it. If not, I don't sweat it. What pisses me off are the fricking slobs who leave their trash in carts. Pick up after yourselves, you assholes!

I say either. I know Texans who call them baskets, despite the fact that there are also actual baskets.

I leave them in the middle of a parking space even if I have to go out of my way

Or maybe you are taking a spot from an elderly person?

If you're too old to get out of your vehicle to move the cart, you're too old to be driving. At that point, I'm going a public service.

Then again I've seen motorized carts left in the middle of parking lots at Wal-Mart.
Well to be fair, assuming the cart is allowed to leave the store, how is someone on a motorized cart supposed to get to their car AND get the cart back to the store?

My wife called it a buggy in Alaska around a bunch of her coworkers. They all had a big laugh at that.

Aldi knows that trashy people are also cheap.
Even then I've seen carts left in the parking lot. Take them back, get a quarter.

I've been in AZ for 10 years and I still call it a buggy. I think my husband has finally given up on correcting me on it.

Pretty trashy IMO. It's not hard to walk the damn thing where it's supposed to go.
So do you also bring your dirty dishes to the kitchen when you eat dinner at a restaurant? Do you prewash the dishes so the employee in the back doesn't have to work as hard? GTFO with this return the cart BS. The cost of the cart crew is built in to the price on the shelf. All you're doing is increasing their profit margins and discouraging better services.
