BTW, how is the beach down there?
SPI is very nice, it’s no Florida beach but one of the nicer beaches between the border and florabama.
Just avoid major holiday weekends and spring break

We used to vacation on South Padre Island all the time growing up. It’s a nice beach. Then they opened up the stay in your tube 100% of the time Schlitterbahn.

It's just like most places though. Very nice areas with some pretty shitty areas along the way. McAllen and Harlingen are decent. Brownsville...not so much
Brownsville is so much older in contrast to the other 2 especially McAllen, and it’s a very industrial borderline port city, but from what I’ve heard it’s catching up a little in terms of entertainment and things to do. They’ve always had a good music scene in Bro, and very good restaurants, schools and the most endearing quality is it’s about a 25 minute drive from the beach
Harlingen is sort of the medical hub
McAllen is the entertainment hub and gateway to the agricultural sector

I’ve been told that when I see huge wads of cash paying for everything in McAllen it’s actually more likely from illegal fruit and grain sales across the border than it is drugs or cartel money. No idea if that’s true.

Enjoy the illegals
These evil “illegals” are coming to work for a living and better themselves. I’d much rather take that than the what is taking over NOLA & BR.

If you are moving down there be sure to know what its called. Extreme South Tx = The Valley. San Juan don't want you there though.

lol - Brownsville is awesome
The breeze at night makes it a lot better than the static heat of McAllen. Too many uppity gringos in McAllen.

SpaceX is gonna change that whole region - gonna be a 50-80 year boom down there.
I feel like I've seen most of this movie before.

You definitely get the sea breeze in Brownsville thus it’s a few degrees “cooler” than the upper valley though it’s less humid the furthest inland you go.

There is definitely an arm of the mob in the agricultural industry. You’ll notice a few italian surnames running some of the big produce plants

Change the law then.
I live Hispanics better than most of the white population, but we have rule of law in the USA.

really just the middle valley is poverty stricken around Pharr, Donna, Weslaco, and La Feria. There's plenty of wealth in Brownsville, Mission, Sharyland, and McAllen.
SpaceX is moving to Brownsville right?
What do people do there before Space X?

Its a poverty stricken area, but still faaaar less crime than the cities in Louisiana.
Brownsville proper is not exactly safe.
From wiki:
Based on the Uniform Crime Report conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2013, the Brownsville metropolitan area ranked last on its list of the "Most Dangerous Cities" in Texas, with "240 incidents of violent crime per 100,000 people" and a murder rate of 1.4. Robbery crimes make up 25% of overall crime in the city, with a rate of 58.1 per 100,000 residents

Eh, I wouldn’t say ‘plenty of wealth’, it’s just not a giant pile of trash. Schools are good. Lots of middle class.
Again, I can’t see SpaceX attracting some mass group of young adults like Austin, Seattle, Denver, etc. There will be some guys that buy up some ranch land, but it’s not like people are chomping at the bit to move close to the border and need some subdivisions to pop up quickly.

Right. I’m sure all the people we are talking about in Nola And BR are law abiding citizens who contribute to society.
