Is it possible to gift cash (or other form) completely anonymously?

My wife and I know a couple who have had one tough thing after another happen to them and are in a very tight spot for the next 6 months. These are not the kind of people who would ever ask for a handout either.
They’d likely be horrified if they knew we just flat out gave them money so I want to try to figure out how to do so completely anonymously.
Which got me thinking: how the heck do you even do this that’s secure and safe?
Edit: Didn’t know if this was more appropriate here or Money Board. Move if needed.

That doesn’t seem very secure.

I dunno, may be the only option.

Do it after the mail comes but before they are home.
What trashy place do you live where people rummage through mailboxes on a regular basis?

Money order? I assume those still exist.

True but thought they lived near each other so I grouped it up.

Nothing crazy, probably like $500.

Well, I have never lived next to this people so I have no clue if porch pirates are a problem or not.
Not a problem in our neighborhood but I’m not gifting the money to myself so...

For 500 bucks, do a money order at the post office, then mail it to them. Use fake name and a note saying it's not a mistake.
