Hard to argue against the way IKEA lures you into buying.

Have a giant store with your entire inventory on display in various settings and pretty decent food readily available on site.

Manufacture everything yourself instead of dealing with retail costs and everything associated with buying from vendors.

Make the majority of your furniture out of cheap particleboard and therefore cut COGS and prices.

Market yourself as Swedish even though the majority of your products are made in China.

Going to an IKEA store is almost an experience within itself.

Their ability to market particle board is unparalleled.

And place the responsibility of half or more of the manufacturing process of your products onto your customers.

This too.... can't be held liable for faulty assembly.

Don't they watch the kids so the parents can shop alone?

I don’t by their furniture. Particle board last about 6 months in my house.

my girl has a '1item limit'at IKEA

I had to shut that shut down when she would come home every couple weeks with 3 big pieces of furniture that would take all my Saturday to assemble.

Good stuff if you live in a dorm room or apartment.

Wouldn’t put any of that cheap trash in a nice home.

And the store is set up to require you to walkthrough and see everything before you get to the exit. It’s truly a genius business model

We outfitted a guest bedroom with IKEA. Also have a small bookshelf in the upstairs hallway. A little cubby hole shelving thing in the bathroom, a cheap small desk in my office. A shelf for Sony sound bar

Their products are flimsy.
You have to walk around a warehouse.

It's fricking wizardry. They've set up a store model that basically insures you will spend at least three hours in it, and convinced a huge customer base that it's a great thing to do.

They actually have good, non-particle board stuff. You just have to look for it.

You have to dedicate an entire day if you want to visit one. My 1st time I thought I would spend a couple minutes just to look around but ended up staying 6 hours
