Not sure if it is or not, but I wouldn’t frick with them. Especially in Florida.

If they think you are messing with the gators, they can frick you up financially.

Florida is AWFUL. It is nearly impossible to fish in Florida and not get checked. I had a boat in Stuart from 1995 through 2006 and it wasn't unusual to get checked 2-3 times a day. The boat was registered in Florida (1/4 ownership) so it wasn't a case of harassing out of towners...in fact it was rumored to be just the opposite by locals. It was a big part of the reason I sold my share and do not live in or fish in Florida much anymore. Fishing is great and FWS is responsible for a lot of that but it is just too much hassle, especially offshore.

It takes means and some know-how. I talked to a local lawyer and they advised me it was a losing proposition and that they basically "had no interest in just taking my money when there was no opportunity to prevail"

I also tried to contact three or four so-called civil rights attorneys. All required an online submission, which I made. One called me and said they did not do that type civil rights work and the others never responded.

I am in central Texas, if anyone has a contact in the legal profession who has experience in a matter such as this.

The entitlement that city people have these days is astounding. Entirely out of touch with reality.

Feet being important.

If anyone besides our local black warden comes to your property, they aren't welcome to drive or ride.

.I have been on some of the most exclusive waterfowl clubs in the US and Canada and every one of them had more illegal stuff going on which was known to everyone than anything I have ever seen on public land.

Clubs and Camps I belong/have belonged to will kick out a member if they do illegal stuff that will affect the camp, other members, or group. In one duck camp I belonged to, we kicked out two new members who were consistently shooting over the limit. In South Louisiana, it seems like Game Wardens check clubs/camps. That said, they probably spend more time where the action is, on public land and open leases.

Things that can happen.
Lose your lease
have hunting gear confiscated/impounded
lose license for extended period of time
go to jail
Large fines
Felony on record

Most affluent people I have associated with in those settings enjoy the outdoors and comradery that comes with the memberships and don't want to risk the above. Rules and Laws are meant for conservation, don't hunt if you can't follow them.

Most states have a license for the owner of the bird that are shot on preserves that allows a paying customer to hunt. The birds are supposed to be banded. Most limits are in place by the owner, not the state. The exception, in my experience, is with pen raised waterfowl preserves which always require a federal stamp and steel shot because it is usually not possible to keep migrant waterfowl out of such areas. Birds that are not common in an area like Pheasants and Huns in Alabama, for example, are only there because someone put them there. Quail, native to the area, may be different.

Most plantations are certified game preserves. This allows them to pretty much do what they want within certain guidelines. The seasons are extended and you do not need a license, etc. I looked into for my property, but the qualifications were a bit over the top, so I decided not to do it.

What is a game warden? Kind of like a referee in basketball?

If by that you mean useless then I will concur.

Only call the shite that influences the game in direction you laid your bet....

My favorite is when they stop and shake down some poor soul on the side of the road just trying to catch a couple bream….most likely for dinner. Doing no harm. Then go bullshite with the white guy in a $70,000 bass boat and 15 years of financing and give him a free pass.

To be fair one is likely to not have a fishing license while the other likely does

I've seen people get their fishing licenses checked at a pond in the middle of a cow pasture

Yea that’s bullshite. Licenses should only apply to public lakes/rivers not a private pond

Watching the game warden shows in ME and TX (and I'm sure the are scripted and "played up") makes me thank God for the scant LE in MS.

We have one warden to cover like 3 counties here

My dad got disgusted at a game warden fussing at some kids who were innocently bank fishing in bayou segnette a few years ago. The warden was really being an a-hole towards them. Because they had no license or some horrible discretion

In MS if you’re 16 yrs old you don’t need a license. I think Louisiana is 18

The biggest peeve of mine is any LEO harassing people because he doesn’t know the actual law

you create a pond it is still technically state property if it is “navigable”.

Natural is key here. If you build the pond it’s not natural
