Ughhhh... sarcasm? When is the last time you were down there? You do realize back in 2015 the company invested over $100M in new transmission lines to service that area?

Also the low cost of Natural Gas doesn’t make it financially feasible to build new Nuclear. More cost effective when you can build multiple Gas fired plants for the price of a Nuclear facility.

Yep.
More of a problem in the northeast than it is down south though I believe. Pretty sure it was a big part as to why Entetgy's Pilgrim plant closed down recently.

Yeah I can’t believe Entergy is hesitant spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve the services to huge population centers like Fourchon and Grand Isle.
That's literally the reason they're granted a monopoly.
I worked for another investor-owned utility for several years, in more than one department, and I don't remember anyone having a high opinion of Entergy from a reliability or engineering standpoint.
As an investment, though, they've had quite a run. They definitely know how to consolidate acquisitions, cut costs, etc.
Having "good ol' boys" on the PSC helps with that a lot.
And it doesn't help keep the lights on.

Entergy is very committed to nuclear. They have a plant closing soon in New York but that’s political and has nothing to do with the stance of the company.

How bout we quit populating areas below sea level and complaining there are outages in those areas

Palisades and the two Indian Points are scheduled for early shutdown.
Pilgrim is already shutdown, and in ongoing decommissioning.
That leaves them with RB, GG, WF3 and ANO 1&2. or, 5 out of 9
Make no mistake, the politics of the NE played a major part, but they hit the eject button...thats not committed to nuclear power, thats committed to dollars

My only real gripe isn't at Entergy but at the industry as a whole for not pushing themselves to bury more lines (less exposed lines = fewer chances for outages).
A friend wanted to bury 100 feet of line on his property because tree limbs kept hitting it. Entergy wanted $1k to run it. Even if he bought and set up all the materials ahead of time it was still going to be $1k.

There are utilities building new nuclear power plants. Entergy is not one of them.
I think it reflects badly on Louisiana that people still have nice things to say about Entergy after that Super Bowl blackout.
For that matter, I think it reflects badly on Louisiana that the economic backbone of the state is an industry that dumps crude oil all over the place and people seem OK with that. I'm not an Obama fan but he was 100% right to shut down the Gulf.

They’re struggling to build new ones. And it’s typical an added unit or two not an entirely new plant.
