Keep using cartridge razors if preferred. But if you still use canned shave cream, you are robbing yourself.
A pic of Taylor of Olde Bond Street is already posted. That's a perfect place to start. That tub will last 4-6 months.

I bought a double edge razor and the blades are dirt cheap. I almost got Dollar Shave but the blades are garbage. I guess the biggest expense is I do have to indulge in quality lather. I will never buy another Gillette razor ever again.

4 blades cost $16 now.
That's about 2 months for me Gillette Fusion razors and don't suck.

Invest in a decent double edge razor and you'll get the best deal. Blades cost as little as a nickel a piece.
Agreed. Buy a variety pack of blades from Amazon to find out which particular blade works best for your face then buy a 100 pack of that blade. And please, use a nice shaving soap (I'm partial to Mama Bears Soaps right now). A single tub will last 4-6 mos. A double edge blade lasts me 2 wks. Get a decent brush for $35 bucks or so and you're ready to go. In addition, you won't realize just how bad your old razors and shaving cream were until you've tried wet shaving. Lots of good "how to" videos on Youtube. Yeah, you'll cut yourself a few times at the beginning, bur it'll be worth it. Try your first shaves on a morning when you can take your time.
