I will tell you as someone who was buying $100 prescription dog food bags...the best food out there hands down is Acana Heritage.
I have a F1 Goldendoodle that’s as calm and smart as any dog anybody has in this entire thread. They’re known to have sensitive stomachs and picky eaters.
It took me 18 months to find it and it’s a God send. Buy it only at Petco.
$70 for 25 lb bag.

Also, we tried feeding him Orijen but he preferred the Acana Heritage. I don’t know much about much, but I know he absolutely loves it.

My dog had issues as soon as we started with it. Went back to blue buffalo and problems went away.

He had joint issues flare up immediately. Started limping around. It was a heck of a coincidence if that’s all it was. Went back to food with joint supplement.

There was a list released by the FDA back over the summer linking many dog foods (yep, even some of the fancy $50 ones) to certain fatal conditions in dogs.
I don’t recall where Kirkland stood on that front. I know some Kirkland products are relabeled brand name products, so I’d just try to see where the food you’re looking at stands.
They specifically stated that DogFoodAdvisor, which everyone consults for advice, is a crock of shite. It isn’t run by researchers or even any kind of animal nutrition experts.
I ended up switching to a Purina branded food after this came out and I read numerous statements referencing the food as safe. And it’s much cheaper than the expensive food I was buying.

My father in law has a product in Costco. He told me after the quality control they had to go through / prove in order for Costco to carry it:
“If Costco sells it, it’s good”.
“If Costco sells it, it’s good”.

I don't know about the quality, but my dog devours it. And you can't beat the value.

All dog food tastes like shite to me. I just use whatever is cheapest.

Just go with a Purina mix.
Also, whatever food you're using now gradually transition over the week to the new food when you get kind of low on the old type.
-start 1/4 new food 3/4 old first 2 days
-then 50/50 for 2-3 days
- 3\4 new 1/4 old for another 2 or so days until you're out of the old

1. its a frickin dog, dont lose your shite worrying about "the best food"
2. kirkland dog food is fantastic even without considering the price. the price makes it a slam dunk decision. the grain-free competes with other "premium" dog food brands from a quality perspective
3. give your dog whatever he will eat and make a solid turd

How many have you tasted?
And I do not think everyone needs the expensive stuff but the really cheap ones are the equivalent of a human eating off the Circle K roller grill for every meal.

Does anyone know if Costco has quality pet food?
It's quality enough for mine. They also have different ingredient mixes so I change it up for him every couple of times.

I have an F1 golden doodle that can eat anything and feel great
Anyways, we buy Victor dog food off Amazon and it is WAY cheaper than your Acana. Vet said it was great and he seems to like it.

No. Bought my dog food from Costco and it made my dog sick. She acted weird and didn't move around, once we changed food back she was fine.
