Metal awnings on my house turn green and so did my copper teapot but I clean the teapot.

I hope just the insides of teapot, the outside is supposed to turn, it's called a patina, and gets better with age.

I honestly have no clue what the point of the thread is. The question was asked and answered and the OP said that wasn't his question. We've been discussing the scrap value of the Statue of Liberty since then to fill in the gaps.

A baller friend of mine had copper rain gutters on his house. It looked...well...baller - but all I could think was, "Damn, that's going to look like shite in a year or two."

I actually don't have one but my question remains.. Is green the color you want when you add copper accents to your house or do true OT ballers keep someone on staff to constantly polish the copper to keep it shiny?

Copper comes from under the ground. No oxygen gets to it underground. Therefore, it should be copper-colored in its natural state.

That's like asking if all metal should be rusty in its natural state

Yes, if you have even the most basic common sense you understand it will be green one day. It is part of the charm, and a true OT baller still recognizes that it is copper even when it has a patina.

same can be said for your fence yet people go to great lengths to stain it or seal it to keep it from weathering.
