Statistically, shooting is actually extremely safe.

If I can recall, I think there has been a total of 1 fatality at all IPSC events through its lifespan. I could be wrong on the exact number, but it is EXTREMELY low.

You statistically have a greater chance of dying by driving on the road than you do by shooting, and the difference is about a factor of 10 or higher.

According to the CDC, there are 14000-19000 accidental nonfatal gun injuries per year.

it's terrifying you would compare it to a hobby like fantasy football. they're not illegal so it's w/e if you enjoy it as a hobby, but acknowledge your fascination with something that's only purpose is killing people, and occasionally animals.

I have killed 0 people and only a few animals. However, I have slain many a paper target and empty milk jug and the occasional old tv set.

You're either ignorant or a troll... Actually you're probably both.

I'm absolutely serious. A gun is nothing more than an object/tool.

most legal tools you can buy at a store aren't used to massacre people.

again, I'm cool with people enjoying guns but don't act like it's nothing when it is used daily in the country to kill people, and hardly used for anything else.

15 posts in and you get my vote for both worst person on the OT and best troll job/alter. Good job.

I agree Bap, wasn't saying guns specifically. I used example of bicycling. I know many people who have been hit or swiped by a car, I don't know one person injured when shooting their weapon. I do know a guy who fell out of his tree stand :)

Possibly.

I will say some gun enthusiasts you talk to seem overly paranoid regarding doomsday scenarios.

I'd imagine for a lot of people it's just a fun hobby and the what-if protection is ancillary.

I guess my problem with them is more the fact that they are legal rather than people enjoying them while they're still legal.

and an archaic freud quote to prove a point? you've transcended to parody level.
