they were about outing a man and ruining his family.
But it was okay that he wasn't worried about ruining his family through infidelity (whether with a guy or girl)?

yeah, no blame should be assigned to the guy cheating on his wife with dudes.
That isn't the issue here. The issue is that a news site that has the audience it does, like Gawker, should never print something like that especially when it deals with blackmail. They essentially helped the blackmailing succeed.
Ruining the guys family is obviously terrible and I don't think people's social lives should be out for people to judge, but it's mostly known that one's sexual orientation isn't something that you go out and just wave around the internet. It's kind of like if someone dies in a car crash. You don't report the individuals names until the next of kin is notified. Nobody wants/should ever have to see or learn such information through the media.

is not a gay basher
This is the one kind of scandal the left does not want reported -- unless it involves a Republican, then it's time to crucify his self-hating homophobic arse

No but it's not our problem nor is it our business.

Hogan is notorious for being very suit-happy, regardless of merit. I don't think he will end up getting a penny from Gawker. However, if the jury gives him $10-20 million before appeals, Denton may have to take a conditional loan or sell part of his company.
I think this story puts them in a terrible light, after years of slowly building credibility. This would worry me quite a bit, especially since it gives Reddit trolls carte blanche to frick with them.

CFO of Conde Nast is not a public figure. The average person couldn't name the CFO of a single Fortune 500 company. He's no doubt a wealthy man, but a portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch making $7 million a year is not a public figure, either.
I also disagree with you that it isn't in the public interest if an anti-gay politician or Church leader was involved. Hypocrisy, especially from someone with an attentive audience, is very important. It's part of why the Cosby scandal blew up.
But not if it was a corporate lawyer, surgeon, investment manager, etc.

Never said you can't be pissed at both Gawker and the gay guy.

This guy Geithner has a family and like three kids. Everyone is pissed, including me, that they were more worried about page views then they were about outing a man and ruining his family.
Actually Geithner ruined his own family by trying to cheat on his wife with a gay porn star.

Again, we don't know Geithner's family. His wife could very well know that he is homosexual and his traditional family could be a front. Nevertheless, Gawker had no business outing him and protecting the male pornstar in this.

They had evidence that the brother of a high ranking
Obama official committed numerous crimes, some of them federal crimes, while trying to arrange sex with a gay porn star. I have no problem with them releasing it.

Gawker is being sued for $100 million by Hulk Hogan for publishing a part of his sex tape. NO ONE thinks Hogan will win. But Florida law requires appellate defendants to hold all possible winnings in escrow.
That's a legit move by Hogan. Well done.

liberal = not reported
conservative = reported
I love liberals and I absolutely ADORE double standards!

Gawker really shot themselves in the foot this time. You have to know your audience, and their audience won't react well at all to this. Nothing like having Deadspin and other satellite websites trash the NFL for Micheal Sam and other gay issues, then out a dude on their website.
Posted on 7/17/15 at 3:06 pm to Kafka
Are you just assuming that private surgeons, corporate lawyers, and investment managers are all liberals?

Ever heard of James McGreevey?
Did I do that right? I can't tell when these are funny or not, so just go ahead and let me know if this is one of the good ones.

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that the crimes he committed, some of which are federal, are what got him into a situation where he was going to use his brothers influence with the POTUS? How is that not a legit story?

Dude fricked up by his own accord, no doubt...I'm not really sure that the President was going to help with this situation, especially considering homeboy's brother hasn't worked for Obama in almost two years.
"Yeah, sure I'll help you cover up your brother's gay escort extortion! Sounds worth the risk to me!'
Yeah no
