I think that pushback is about showing the complete dishonesty in the false outrage over frankly inocuous comments.
The progressives love to use the social media lynch mob to attack those that dare disagree with them.
So by turning their own weapon against them it shows their utter hypocrisy and the falseness of their outrage

It doesn’t matter color, stripe or creed. Funny is funny and lame is lame. We shouldn’t censcor something because someone somewhere is offended. We shouldn’t allow our behavior to be throttled because someone is offended on behalf of others.
The problem with comedy in modern America is that we let the censors have inordinate power.
Let the market of ideas dictate what succeeds and fails. Don’t punish those that make jokes that some are bothered by.

Comedians are forced to make viewers leave phones at home and threaten to confiscate them if found.
Edit: in fear that they will be recorded and blasted for a harsh joke.
The big name comedians I’ve seen are hilarious, but they push the limit of what our PC country is ok with, so they can’t risk anybody recording them being sexist, racist, etc
