If two gays want to go to the court house or some park or other place that is not owned or operated by people who oppose gay marriage, I have no problem.
The only thing I'd object to is if a church is forced to allow gays to use their chapel or recongnize an gay marriage. I also would be opposed if a privately owned business was forced to go against the owner's personal beliefs and do business with a gay couple.

That's a different thread. I think most if the argument is about civil unions. I don't see many picketing churches.

I used to be. Then I realized marriage as a whole is pretty damn useless in this Brave New World.
Oaths and promises and vows be damned, since the people who make them aren't worth much of a shite anyway.
Let people couple however they want and call it whatever they want, it doesn't change a damn thing in the grand scheme.

They won't get married in my church so I don't care.

I think he's saying that he opposes, but doesn't really care if it's legalized or not.

I don't think the word marriage should even be in any government documents. Civil unions for all. Marriage is between you and your god

frick no if they want to be miserable and married let them be

I'm all for a government recognized civil union, don't really give a shite but I take issue with a small but loud portion of the population hijacking the word "marriage" for their selfish purposes and ramming it down the majority's throats (no pun intended).

I don't think it's right but I'm not gonna fight it and at the same time the government shouldn't open the door get on the floor everybody walk the dinosaur.

That is the end game

I support gay marriage, if thats what makes them happy. But like others have said, when a private business is forced to provide service to them it is crossing the line.

Civil partnerships for legal purposes, fine.
Marriage? No.
Marriage? No.

Well, nothing matters, if we are going that route.

Feel the same way.

Maybe I have been missing the point.
In Louisiana, they are not able to get any civil partnership that provides legal/tax benefits right?

Support for gay marriage.
There's absolutely no reason why two consenting adults can't agree to a contract with each other. IMO, A gay marriage ban is unconstitutional under the 14th amendment, every state has ratified the 14th amendment so there's a decent chance the Supreme Court of the United States of America will rule as such bypassing a states rights argument. But if they rule that such a ban does not violate the 14th, it doesn't mean it's overturning states that legalized by marriage via popular vote or a bill in the state legislature.

How many people here believe in marriage at all?
Very few I think.

If the argument was about civil unions, people wouldn't be pissed about the whole "marriage" issue.
If they came out and said "this has nothing to do with marriage, but everything to do with civil unions", then we wouldn't be having this argument.
Just look at the Poli Board if you're questioning it still being an issue.
