So happy for you. Different people handle peer pressure in different ways, like some commit suicide.

I'm making the assumption that everyone the proclaims that they are against gay marriage will or has voted "no" on gay marriage

if you voted yes or live in a state that this has not come up for vote, then I'm not really talking to you

All you dipshits are doing is clinging to a silly game of semantics.

I could say "why are you against freedom?" and you'd respond with "why are you against my freedom to be against freedom?"

Real clever.

The problem with "freedom" is that you have to allow for the fact that freedom to disagree also means freedom to vote against something that might expand someone else's freedom.

I'm not trying to be cute. None of us really want the freedom we say we do. We are way too self centered for that. Me included.

In a thread like this, I love this sort of interjection.

I'm being serious too. Brings levity.

I would indeed if it came to that.

so that is the difference

you are actively denying someone the ability to do something simply because you think that it is wrong

you are imposing your beliefs onto them

and that sir, is fricking pathetic

That's not wrong, it is the way societies have functioned all through human existance. The majority determines what is acceptable and permissable. If you don't like it, I think you need to stop trying to change this society, and find a different one to live in.

Because it is my firm belief that marriage is between a man and a women. That belief will not ever change. That is WHY I feel that people of the same sex should not be allowed to marry.

I'm cool with unions so gays can have all the benefits of marriage but not call it marriage.

Ive got an idea!!! If you do not believe in marriage as it has been all throughout this Country's history, don't marry someone in this Country instead of trying to impose your beliefs on someone else!!!
