Trying to compare those two shows a serious lack of critical thinking skills.

No it doesn't show a lack of critical thinking skills at all. Explain the differences.

So then you support expanding marriage to allow incestuous marriages. That's a joining of two consenting adults and their marriage doesn't affect you in anyway. It's illogical to support one and not the other.

Why not? Marriage wouldn't be the societal issue here. The issue would be them procreating, which they are free to do currently regardless of marriage.

If I have to explain the difference then you're not mature enough for this discussion.

well...procreating is the main issue

but I could also see issues where a father psychologically abuses his daughter her entire life and manipulates her into marrying him

so there is that

That's what I thought. Nothing of substance, just name calling. I am the one lacking maturity?

There's a world of psychological ramifications of children being raised by same sex couples that we've barely scratched the surface on. That isn't slowing the progress of same-sex marriage or allowing those couples to adopt.

You either lack maturity or you're stupid. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not quick to discount the importance of a father and a mother and psychology agrees.

Please come back when you have something intellectually stimulating to add to the conversation.

How many girls have daddy issues? How many people struggle with anxiety or have food issues because of their mothers? How many alcoholics watched their fathers get drunk and beat the shite out of their mothers?

How many people are psychologically scarred after watching their parents go through a divorce?

Good argument, though.

So your argument is to compound brokenness with more brokenness. Great solution.

psychology agrees the importance of a stable, loving environment

whether its hetero, same sex, single, multiple, mixed race, etc doesn't really matter

gay marriage and gay couple adoption are separate issues IMO.

I support the former, not so sure about the latter.

How is a loving couple broken? Because it doesn't fit into some lie that you believe?

I also would be opposed if a privately owned business was forced to go against the owner's personal beliefs and do business with a gay couple.

Well sure. Also if the owner didn't want to do business with blacks, or indians, or muslims, etc.

Oh wait...

First you are fundamentally correct about a loving stable environment. That is terribly broken today and it's sad - no matter the sexual orientation of someone. However, children learn specific things from their fathers and specific things from their mothers. Each parent has a distinct role in parenting healthy children.

No. It's been studied since the 70's. It's been touched on.
