I would just monitor the dog. If you take it to the vet tonight, they’ll give the dog an anti-nausea drug and run a battery of tests, and they’ll give you a $600 tab to pay. ETA: TDcline and I must use the same vet.

No different then taking a kid in after hours.

OP, feel the nose. If cold, all good. But really, just watch at this point unless if you have any rat poison out that your dog could of got to. The later, to the Vet.

My dumbass dog does this a few times a month. She eats something she shouldn’t, then does the ole heave ho a few times, then she’s fine. Thankfully she’s self cleaning, like an oven, and licks it all back up....like I said, she’s a dumbass.

Dogs sometimes throw up after eating grass
I've heard something different. I've heard that when dogs have upset stomachs, they eat grass to try to settle their stomachs.

It doesn't always work, and they eventually throw up anyway. And so when you see grass in their throw up, you assume it's because of the grass itself that caused it... when actually it was something else and the grass was your dog trying to settle his stomach.

At a friend's camp years ago. His lab, Doofus, was about 8 months old and dumb as shite.

He had a yellow poly rope with knots tied in it for Doofus to play fetch and tug-of-war with. Middle of the night, everyone woke up to Doofus howling/whining.

Apparently he had chewed a section off his rope and was in the process of shitting it out but it became stuck when the knot got to his a-hole.

His owner wadded up some paper towels over his hand and yanked the piece of rope that was hanging out and pulled the knot through.

Doofus made a noise that I've never heard a dog make before or since, dropped his arse to the ground and drug it through the grass for several minutes while we all laughed hysterically.

I've got a little rat terrier mix that ate an entire 3 piece dinner from Popeyes including the sides, the biscuit and part of the box. That's the equivalent of me eating two whole chickens, a turkey, a gallon of red beans, an entire loaf of bread and half of a shoe box in one sitting. Little bastard didn't get sick at all, fricking amazing.

Dogs are in the business of eating stuff they have no business eating. Normally they'll be just fine.

When was the last time he ate? Or drank?

Could be dehydration or the fact he hasn’t eaten in a while. If he’s eaten and hydrated then wait it out. If he keeps doing it for the next day or two then take him

Like people, dogs will get sick or not feel well at times. If you see that there is grass in whatever they throw up.. That's normal. While you don't have to be overly concerned, just keep an eye on them.

Now if you see that they have eaten something they shouldn't have (rat poison, some type of cleaner products, etc) put peroxide in a syringe and shoot it down their throat (you can just put it in their mouth and shoot it in, they will swallow it.. or a good bit of it) and that will cause them to throw up everything. and get out whatever they swallowed. Just a FYI in case it happens. You don't have to waste money bringing them to the vet.
