Well then you would agree that the Soleimani guy wasn't the head of a UN or NATO recognized terrorist group.

Despite the US being the world's current [waning] superpower, it is still only 500 years old. The persians have enjoyed a luxurious 5000 year histoty and they won't be afraid to mess with "the bull."

And they couldnt do in 5000 years what we have done in 100.

oh.....I think you misunderstood. It is a 3rd (4th?) world country now. But even in the 70s Iran was not like this today. It was center of women's fashion, food culture etc. It was only after the regime change that the Iran YOU know today happened. And when I say 5000 I really mean 5000 years...the Archmaenid dynasty lasted....?? 150 years? Thats like 30% of the US's history for just one Dynasty.

So no, they are NOT luxurious by any stretch of the imagination today.

So far it sounds like all the missiles have missed. Which probably wasn't an accident...

Iran govt can tell their people they responded and US is bad and keep power.

Us can say no casualties, Iran can't hit a barn wall from a foot away, we aren't scared etc... But can also start doing a no harm no foul de-escalation.

This is how I feel.

We killed one of their top generals.

They fire a bunch of missiles that don't actually do anything other than allow the Iranian government to show their supporters that they did something. Let them have their "revenge" and be done with it.

It's a good trade for the US.

I don't know what other word you'd use to describe golden palaces filled with gems, jewlss, women laden with silver plaid dresses, a persian crown worth what is probably in the billions today, spices, dyes, etc .....these people had EVERYTHING.....until ghengis khan that is.

He ordered and funded terrorist groups to kill Americans for the past 40 years, invaded our embassy and was organizing to kill more US citizens and military members.

I’m not sure why you are being so argumentative and obtuse on this issue.

True.

My point regarding the history lesson is these are a people who would be passionate about their culture, their people, and their land....as any people's have a right to be. This makes them an adversary worth careful consideration before an escalation draws our boys to another unwinnable war...more regime changes...more angry foreigners at the U.S.

hy is should of been done back in the 1970's. It would of ended this crap once in for all.

This is the only correct answer. Once the hostages were returned, the 1979 hostage situation should have ended wit the US leveling every military facility and mosque in Iran. 444 days watching US citizens be tortured and paraded through the streets tied up with bling folds. Carter did not have the courage to respond.
Since that time Iran has thought of itself as a player, always threatening one thing or another, being an active supporter of terrorists. I hope The US will answer back this time or this shite will continue and even get worse.

This is not a fight the U.S. needs or wants.

Age isn’t a factor here. Might is and the United States has it by far.

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest what Iran was 75 years ago. I know what they have been the last 40+ years. Heathens is the answer now.
