I have a 16 and it’s doing fine. Update the software which will require a reboot. You should be good after that.

There are over a billion people on the Apple ecosystem. So the system must be fricked because you have an issue.

This. Mine got delivered last night. Loving it so far. Upgraded from an S23 Ultra. Just waiting for my case to get delivered today so I can stop worrying about setting it down.

I was coming from my s24 Ultra.

My case came a day later. Finally got it all setup like I like.

Tbh, prob not a whole lot of difference between the two. My s24 ultra was still really good. I've never had a phone for 2 years, so that tells the tale.

I'm sure i'll have this one also for a few years or maybe more.

Samsung/Google/etc videos sent to an iPhone and vice versa are always blurry. it's been that way forever. IOS to IOS videos are clear and same for the other carriers.

You can get clear videos across platforms if you use whatsapp or messenger type apps. No idea why it's that way but it is what it is. I switched back to an iPhone because everyone uses one and I was sick of blurry photos and videos from my family even though I liked my Galaxy more.

I'm still rocking an S20 without issues.

I'm sure the newer systems are faster and have better picture quality, but this one does just fine.

That’s because unless both parties have RCS turned on they are still texting using SMS or MMS which has limits on size or amount of data that can be sent.

Apple including RCS as an option is fairly new starting with iOS 18 I think (working on end to end encryption with carriers now instead of using google’s encryption) and has to be turned on in settings by the user, but it seems like Samsung’s default settings didn’t have RCS turned on by default for awhile and maybe still doesn’t.

I love the newest one if that's the 17. I went from a 12 and it's so much better.

I agree. Not a fan. Don’t like the ring button or the camera button on the sides.

Amongst other things, anytime someone sends me a video the image quality is poor. Looks like a dang flip phone video. What’s the fix?

You need to include how these are being sent. Are they iMessages with the blue bubbles or regular texting with the green (usually from Android or can be temporarily from iPhone if user has a horrible signal somewhere)? Or are they sent using some other app?

Make sure system software and/or 3rd party app being used if any are up to date.

I would check cell data and your home Wi-Fi network’s data settings on your iPhone and see if low data mode got turned on accidentally on your new phone.

If the problem is only when getting texts from android user (green bubbles) I would check to see if RCS is turned off under Settings/Apps/Messages. Scroll down to the text messaging section. Turned on allows bigger files from android users.

If all texts and imessages if WebKit is used to display videos for iMessages in Messages app or any other app (and don’t know if that’s the case) all 17 models came with the ProMotion display at a 120mhz refresh, but the Safari settings can be set to prefer 60 fps (again don’t know if WebKit affected or Messages app or if videos sent are even at a higher than 60 frames per second).

I really don’t think this is issue and don’t think that it would cause a video to look “like a dang flip phone video”, but it’s the only other thing I have with information known. Even when truly applicable some think 60 fps rendering is a noticeable issue on a 120mhz screen while others do not.

Settings/Apps/Safari/Advanced/Feature Flags/ and then make sure Prefer Page Rendering Updates Near 60 fps is turned off. 120 uses more battery.

Thanks

This wasn’t always the case for Samsung. I had read or heard that finally changed, but a few people I know who use Samsung phones are still coming up as SMS for texting and don’t think phones are that old.
