I'm a bit amazed that the OT is pro homeless camp. If it's on the water it's ok, but if they are on an empty lot it isn't? I'm guessing the video featured some sympathetic people instead of the many drug addicts dumping their trash and sewage in the bay.

Yes.

Its world class karenism to cry over people living in boats. , on the water which is always in motion.

If theyre doing a bunch of illegal stuff, I get it. If they hurt your view, grow a pair.

One of the YT comments sums it up the best:

quote:

So let me get this straight. You can live for free in a tent, sh!t on the sidewalk and do drugs in front of schools, but you can’t live in a boat? Oh California…

If these people were living on the street in tents or cardboard boxes, in a shitty neighborhood, no one would care.

But their anchorage is within sight of those who would rather ignore real issues, so now that is a problem.

At least unlike the homeless, they have roofs over their heads and appear to be self sufficient.

Correct. But Karen's view is obstructed so they're pissed.

I think one guy in the video said it right about the limousine liberals who can’t stand to look at the poor people their little NIMBY community creates.

they cant very well have people living in peace outside of government regulation and control, thats why this concerns them so much

Just dock in Mexico, walk across the border and then the Cali officials will support anything they do. Hell they may even fund their efforts with tax payer dollars.

They want to act like they give a damn about the homeless yet are there busy booting them out. They want all the accolades for being humanitarians yet when it directly affects them, then they throw a hissy fit.

Correct. These limousine liberals don't care if they take up residents on land because thats going to be in someone elses neighborhood

But the sight of an old boat drives them to tears? Please...

There was a similar situation in Ft Myers (they're probably all dead now) but it was explained to me they just have to move their boats every so often, maybe a 100 yard or something, then re-anchor. And also demonstrates that the boat is in fact a working operational boat and not just a floating homeless shelter.

isn't that the premise that got casinos into LA?

put hole in hull. Hull fills with water. Boat sinks, inhabitant of boat has to move. Problem solved.

seems like a .22 with a subsonic round shot into the boats hull when no one is watching would cure the boat issue. Just like setting the homeless person's tent on fire (preferably when they are passed out in it), gets rid of the homeless person.

Here is an article about it. LINK

quote:

But up close, he said, many of the boats are piled so high with old furniture, suitcases and machine parts that they appear to be slowly disintegrating into the bay. Few have propulsion or steering. “And if they sink, God help us, it’s a little environmental disaster,” Havel said

quote:

A couple of years ago, Baker and a few other longtime mariners formed the Richardson Bay Special Anchorage Assn., which aimed to improve the image of the anchor-outs by encouraging newcomers to do things like buy life jackets, pump out their toilets, and secure their anchors before winter, when unpredictable winds and waves often set improperly moored vessels adrift.

quote:

Before the pandemic, the Richardson Bay Special Anchorage Assn. held a couple of meetings. But Baker said they were overrun by “rabble-rousers,” and the group never got off the ground. “It was like herding cats,” he said, adding by way of explanation: “Some of the people out here are here because they can’t get along anywhere else.”

quote:

complaints mounted about problems ranging from trash and raw sewage dumped in the bay to thefts, vandalism, floating drug labs and homicides.

quote:

A freelance landscaper, Weber believed she had found a solution to the impossibly high rents in Marin County. But that boat caught fire and was a total loss. Her next two boats sank.

quote:

The last straw was mounting evidence presented by environmentalists that the anchors and chains of the live-aboards had destroyed as much as 40% of the eelgrass that grows on the floor of the shallow estuary and provides a critical habitat for birds and fish.

"I pay no rent, no taxes, no mortgage"

" I get social security"

"I have a $1200.00/month fixed income"

bet he doesn't pay any/much income taxes either. frick all of them. Just a bunch of trashy outlaws. Move to Mexico if you want to live on your boat. See what the Federales say about your living arrangements.

I think there is the same thing in San Diego Bay, but those people living on boats actually rent a space, even though the space has no land access. If you look at Google Maps you can see the neat lines of boats in the bay just adjacent to Little Italy.

It is comical how as soon as a person can not get taxed or controlled, the government looks for ways to change that.

Bingo. There’s some level of concern, as you don’t want your coast to be littered with shitty row boats that bums use for houses, but other than that, this is indicative of the economic crisis out there and the government won’t see it that way.
