2 things:
1: this is 2018, how dare someone tell him what or who he can’t relate to! If he wants to be multi racial, then he can be multiracial.
2: multiracial only applies to a good thing if you are a democrat and are running for political office then any percentage will apply

In theory I think the idea of giving a leg up to a minority made sense because discrimation still exists. And the effects of that have been a part of what ended up making some minorities poor.
But in practice I don't think these programs end up being effective in raising up the people who we should care about the most. Instead I think you end up helping middle or upper class minorities- who will benefit from these programs but are not disadvantaged in the way a program like this should care about.
I admit I haven't done any research or real reading on the subject though- and if a program like this seriously considered economic class and was transforming poor people into business owners I would change my opinion.

with that argument, all us Cajuns should have a monopoly on all "minority business owner" contracts, we have been discriminated against since before slavery until the present day, as evidenced by finding our ethnicity in the US Census Bureau population category designated as "other", we are such a minority that our % numbers are found far behind the decimal point, that is by definition discrimination and oppression...

This entire country would revolt if they knew how many billions of dollars are pretty much given to “minority” business owners, in basically no bid government contracts, and people that know how to game the system.
ETA: just to stir the pot, we get outraged at a few football players kneeling but the workaround to being a wealthy person because of a drop or two of a few recognized minority blood eliminating all competition, even though said individual was never at a disadvantage is almost criminal
