You sound delightful. It’s hard to believe corporate didn’t trip over themselves to call you back as soon as lunch ended.

It never dawned on you that not paying the premium might jeopardize actually having the product you were trying to buy?
I bought a car the other day and after paying the new premium on it received another email saying a refund was coming for the premium amount.
I immediately called to figure out what was going on because I wanted to make sure the vehicle was insured. I didn’t say, “hey, maybe I’ll get lucky and get the money back and get free insurance”
This is common sense.
So Bernie Madoff was innocent because his victims weren't mind readers?

I’m not saying your agent didn’t frick up. I’m saying you fricked up more.
You put yourself in a situation where your likely largest asset went uninsured for a period of time. You made a major mistake by not validating that your insurance was bound.

You can call the OP a welfare queen, but they did everything they were asked to do by the company. In other words, they upheld their end of the contract. That's why when they called another agent, their policy was reinstated.

Problem is, Mingo doesn't understand bills. Because his mommy pays them all. And she's responsible for buying all of Mingo's Cheetos.

Yep. Not surprising.

You're a caricature — you know that right?
I'll guarangoddamnedtee you that you don't bring this same energy in real life that you do on here. Calm down little fella. You're acting like your mother.

I moved and bought a new house. I insured the new house with my previous insurer (I'm not telling the company, but it's a top company).
The new premium was sort of ridiculous high, but I said okay, I'd like to pay it every 3 months, split into quarters. Office manager said okay, and charged me way less than the full annual premium divided by four. Okay, I thought, and paid it.
Apparently she flunked math her entire life.
So this week I get a letter in the mail from "the underwriter" that my policy is cancelled for "non payment."
I talked to the office manager yesterday and she swore she noticed it and was in the process of getting it fixed. Well, as of this morning, she or her boss refuse to answer the phone or emails. I call the corporate office, and the LITTLE GIRL on the phone can do nothing except say "Sorry, as of now your policy is cancelled." And..."Sorry, I can't get anyone on the phone to solve this because it's lunch time."
I said, "So we got hit by tornados two nights ago, and you're telling me I was not covered while those tornadoes were hitting?" Yes, said the little airhead.
And also, "So I was 'not covered' because of yalls mistake, and no one can help me because they're all out eating a cheeseburger?" Yes, said the little airhead. I'm not mad at her, it's not her fault, in fact she's probably the best kid in the world. But I'm just sitting here having been told I "was not covered if the tornadoes had hit my house Monday night."
I called a rep from the same company, in my new town, and she fixed it right away, charged me properly, and send me a "evidence of insurance"
Meanwhile, the previous agent and the previous agent's office manager have not answered my email from 9am today, and also the other management personnel from their corporate have not responded since their cheeseburger eating contest ended 54 minutes ago.
nothing about any of this makes any sort of sense.

I paid for the new policy 2 days before the closing.
Holy shite you're stupid.

Usually that wouldn’t be every 3 months, it would be quarterly based on actual quarters of the year. If your policy started in the middle of a quarter, you’d be charged a pro rated amount.
Sounds more like incompetency of the office you dealt with

No you didn’t, in fact, you didn’t even pay for a quarter of it

Ok everyone I’ve read the first page and came to the following conclusions:
OP noticed the math wrong right away but said nothing. He got a letter that his policy was cancelled, tried calling during lunch and was mad no one was there to take his call. He then gets madder that his house was not covered during tornadoes that passed but incurred no damage to his home.
Now he doesn’t want to acknowledge the fact that he noticed the math was wrong and incorrectly assumed his prior policy was prorated and applied to his new policy without questioning that either.
In reality a math error was made and his policy cancelled. Nothing bad happened and it’ll be reinstated yet he wants to be mad for no reason.
How far am I off?

almost none of his story makes sense but he's on a tear and won't hear anything he doesn't believe is people cheering him on but if he recently closed on a house that he didn't pay cash for, and there are exceptions, because I don't escrow if I don't have to, but many lenders won't even schedule a closing without proof of a fully paid policy in effect prior to closing, some type of loans require this

Totally on you.
On something as important as your homeowners, you willfully chose to ignore a potential mistake. If thought it might be some proration thing, you should have called and confirmed with your agent.

love how he brags about new agent sending an EPI to him like those are so hard to type up...
if money is owed for a non payment issue, notices go out to the policy holder. end of story.

This has got to be State Farm. Everything you described sounds EXACTLY like State Farm.
