I locked my keys in my truck Sunday night. Paid $165 to have a tow company come out and get it open. I was looking at my gieco policy and I have $100 of coverage for lockouts. If I call them to claim the $100, I have a receipt, will that count against me as a claim? I don't want my insurance to go up over a $100 claim. I've never used the roadside assistance before, was wondering if any of you have.

It shouldn’t make your premium go up. I’ve asked the same question but for rentals.

No it should not. State farm did not count mine as a claim.

Yes, a claim is a claim. It should not affect your rates, but, if you have multiple claims such as this or this, plus other types of claims, you could see a price increase or a non-renewal/cancellation.

I have a 2005 BMW and roadside coverage on my policy. I can tell you in no uncertain terms that i have used the towing coverage at least six times in the last 2 years and my premiums have not gone up because of that.

It could impact it if you if you have too many of those claims but it shouldn’t raise your rates. You are out $65 if they only cover $100.

Holy carp. I have an 09, so I know where you’re coming from...but that’s a shite load of times to break down. I’ve only been towed once, when the coolant system shite the bed.

It shouldn't count; most companies have a min. amount before it counts as a claim. I think State Farm's is $1K.

Tow claims don't count and neither do comp claims unless they're repetitive.

Erie said two rock chips fixed was a claim
And would not write a new policy when I finished building a new house. Frick them and I canceled them with the quickness.
