I have done a lot of stupid shite as a youngster and interfaced with cops more than a handful of times. I have never been arrested and used any discussions to my advantage. I never ran from nor aggravated a cop, even a smart arse one, and this is during the years when they could and would just beat your arse if they felt like it. Worked for me.

I have been cuffed twice in my life. Never was the cop rough. You know why? Because I did exactly what he said.

FIFY

Meant in jest, but that is exactly what you do when you run.

Innocent or not, what's the point of adding additional felonies by running?

Check your state code, but simply running, generally no. However it does give them cause to detain you.

Nah, it is in your best interest and safety to avoid police whenever possible, regardless of whether or not you are guilty.

Spoken like a true hippy liberal douche.

Well, maybe you should tell us why you ended up in cuffs?

Typically, you only get fricked up if you have it coming. Even that is rare though.

It is interesting to see this quote coming from a criminal defense attorney. I don't think that I've ever heard one say that before.
Yeah that is odd, but it also seems counterproductive to designate a person "not innocent" without any due process, while defending a person in court under the presumption of innocent until proven guilty.

Furthermore, while interesting in a philosophical sense (should running make one guilty if no other crime is committed), it also seems counterproductive (and irrelevant) because the officer is not the "judge, jury, and executioner."

It seems like a risky strategy.

id say true 99% of the time. But we ran from the cops a couple times when we were young just for the fun and rush off it.
