re: "Innocent people do not run from the police."

Running from the police isn't automatically a crime, technically speaking. Plenty of people the police approach have the right to walk away under a given set of circumstances. The problem is that running from police has time and again been upheld as legally constituting probable cause and at that point they have the legal right to detain and search you...which, in turn, makes what you did a crime in hindsight.
It's a weird quirk in our legal system. You can be charged for something that wasn't a crime before you did it.

If a police officer gives an order it's illegal to run from them.
That's absolutely false
Running from the police is effectively always illegal because running gives them probable cause, and running from an officer who has probable cause to detain and search you IS illegal. It is not inherently illegal to run from or disobey a police order however, because many orders are unlawful.

bullshite. As long as (any) cop kills innocent people, then innocent people better run from the police

Wow what a bunch of pussies in this thread.
How are people trying to defend someone running from the cops. The "I was scurred from getting kilt mane!" Is a poor excuse pos criminals use to justify themselves when they know damn well that's not why they were running.
You really think crack dealers are scared of getting shot by cops when the the majority of their clientele are armed criminals.
If you're an adult running from the police you are a confirmed piece of shite and I have no compassion for a piece of shite.

"Ohh this cop just asked me a question. But I haven't done anything wrong. HE MUST WANT TO KILL ME AHHHHHH. I HAVE TO RUN!! AND IF HE REALLY WANTS TO KILL ME AND ACTUALLY SHOOTS THIS WILL ALLOW ME TO EVADE THE BULLETT BECAUSE I CAN RUN FASTER THAN A BULLETT"
Is this the thought process you're trying to defend? Literally no one would ever think like that unless they are severely mentally disabled.

Because they are not intelligent. They'll play with guns and sell drugs, but can't conceive something bad happening until police arrive.

Goins is a good guy. He'll give Stafford the best possible defense. I don't know the prosecutor.

It is interesting to see this quote coming from a criminal defense attorney. I don't think that I've ever heard one say that before.
-------------------------------------------------------------
He said this while bringing into evidence that the child's father had alcohol, meth and xanax in his system. How much, I don't know, but I'm sure he was trying to imply that the father was fricked up and resisted arrest by flight and then tried to run down the cops when he got boxed in.
From pre-trial publicity, it sounds pretty apparent that one of the cops had an ax to grind with the father. Maybe the father was fricked up. Maybe it's just trace amounts and just all bullshite to confuse the situation. But he's the defense attorney and his job is to raise a reasonable doubt in the mind of jurors.

Well, as a criminal defense lawyer, he can take the exact opposite position when it suits him. I think 9 of Stafford's bullets hit the guy and the kid, while maybe 2 of Greenhouse's hit flesh. Plus the video shows hands raised in the car. Stafford is going to prison for a looong time.

No idea. I think it's safe to say that good cops despise the crooked cops and that there are way more good than bad.
Whether the good cops despise the bad cops is irrelevant, they are not going to turn in one of their own, as long as this mindset exists it is simpler to just lump them all together.

THIS yet I got like 20 down votes explaining getting fricking form tackle body slammed for this non arrestable offense. same frickers that down voted me now are arguing for "innocent people" running from cops

You don't think the innocent people slaughtered and abused by cops don't have families? How about the courts throw the Thug Cops and the POS violent offenders under the jail and let's build an rapport rather than every cop thinking they're Rambo and every civilian thinking they're gonna get shot.

I've been close to running as an adult. Illegal entry and search while damn near shooting my dog. I just wanted to get my dog out of there.

Yea the dad made some bad decisions, however there were some pre-existing woman issues that occurred before this altercation. There was an ax to grind. But regardless, no matter innocent or guilt, pre-existing issues or not, dude had his hands up, vehicle was dead stopped and 18 bullets flew, all facts.
Posted on 3/21/17 at 8:08 am to WG_Dawg
Nah, it is in your best interest and safety to avoid police whenever possible, regardless of whether or not you are guilty.

Christ......
Your chances of getting capped by a drug dealer or wannabe rapper thug looking for some street cred are higher than getting shot by LEO.

Normally I agree with if you run then you are a dumbass but these two were going to harm this guy regardless. Obviously this was personal, I hope these two rot in prison for a dirty piece of Marksville pussy no less.
