He can't have yogurt. He is allergic to milk.
I mean I appreciate all advice, but that sounds awful.

Has your ped made any suggestions? At that weight I'd stick to literally anything that he eats
Agree. My first was around the same numbers and my ped told us the same. He said as long as she will eat it, give it to her.
She ate like shite until she was around 24 mos then she was heavy and old enough to start thinking about healthy options. We went with lots of chopped up fruit and grilled chicken after that...
Shes 6 now and every night is a battle to get her eating at the table. Not sure where we went wrong. She isn't overweight or anything (50 lbs/~45 in) but it is a fricking nightmare if the option isn't chicken nuggets (strictly grilled now) or some fruit and only fruit. I've recently got her into crab legs and shrimp but I'm no OT baller where this is an option for every meal .

You asked for general advice regarding feeding of toddlers and then lashed out at me and rejected the advice because it didn't fit due to a specific medical issue. Par for the course on the OT i guess.
Good luck Lady Lysa. Tell your son Robin I said hello

Agree. But you aren’t eating it.
My kid was allergic to milk too and he loved Cheerio tofu. Good source of protein.
We did a lot of meatballs too. Gotta get creative.

Never thought of it that way. Thanks for the idea. Will add it to the list of things to try.

Did you see my post on the previous page? You're leaps and bounds ahead of us. Just relax. Your kid is on their own curve.

I actually asked for ideas on first finger foods.

Don't sweat that shite. My kid is 13-14 pounds at nine months. IUGR, 4lbs at birth, congenital heart disease that prevented weight gain, and so on.
Excuse my ignorance on the subject, but is the heart disease going to eventually go away?

Seriously try avocados. They are actually very good nutrition for babies. They are super easy to prepare (just have to wait for them to be ripe). Just cut them open and spoon out in bite sized pieces.
Scrambled eggs are great protein and very easy for a 1yr old to eat and pick up.
Baked Sweet potatoes are also very easy and good for them.

We give our kid almost anything we were eating but vegetables and fruits. By 1 year kids should be eating everything but grapes and popcorn.

Avocados
My daughter couldn't get enough avocados and mashed sweet potatoes when she started eating table food. Her next obsession was to put Cholula or BBQ sauce on everything she ate .... that's my girl right there!

There will always be kids ahead of him and kids behind him at daycare, but as a parent you’ll only notice the ones he’s behind.
Sometimes there can be relatively large gaps in the same age group when one kid is 11 mos old and another is 18 mos old. Between two 30 year olds 7 mos is nothing, but it’s a much bigger difference development wise for small kids.

I need to try eggs. Good recommendation!
He hated avocado. But again this may be just because he is learning. He pushed away the spoon and would not touch it. I don't wont to force a food in fear it may cause him to dislike it in the future.

Oh, yeah! It's gone. They cracked his sternum open, stopped his heart, repaired the hole, and sewed him up. The hole is fully closed and he's doing fantastically.

True! He is just the youngest in the class and they continually forget he is a preemie so not really on par with the other kids. He is now supposed to be having all his "milk" from sippy cups, be napping once per day on a nap mat (not a crib), and should be eating table food. Ugh.
If they want to enforce the nap mat instead of a crib, more power to them. But the eating thing just had me worried. Thanks for the suggestions people. I will make a list and try the foods that worked for yall.

I don’t have kids so I don’t know shite all, but do y’all ever eat cold cut sandwiches? Like meat-mayo-bread? My godbaby was ohsessed at B’s age. Hell, I’m still obsessed!

Amazing! So happy to hear that. Give him a huge hug tomorrow, not from me because that would be creepy, but because that is such a blessing!

If y’all keep trying to be the best parents you can be, he’ll be just fine.
Don’t get fixated on what age someone else’s kid does something it’ll drive you nuts. Just stay focused on what you’re trying to do and enjoy the ride.
We just got NillaWafer potty trained and I feel like we were in your exact spot with the solid foods just yesterday.

Girl, I wish. He literally gags on everything that isn't a puree or puff. He isn't ready for sandwiches. A pea or carrot will send him into a vomit sometimes.
