A 29-year-old father abandoned his three-month-old baby to perish in a "bucket of laundry detergent" in order to teach his wife "a lesson."

Eliasard Moneus received a 92 year prison term at an Indiana state correctional facility after ruthlessly drowning his infant son, Jacob, in a container of detergent, "sealing the lid and leaving the boy to die" in 2024.

Madigan stated Moneus intended to teach his wife "a lesson" about showing disrespect toward men. "The defendant wanted to teach Edlie and women a lesson," the prosecutor said, referring to the defendant's wife by name.

While I did not want to click this thread, I wanted to commend you on a thread title that captures it all.

I feel like we don’t get that effort anymore.

Why don't they simply kill him. By sealing him in a box full of laundry detergent and leaving him to die.

The Roman punishment of the sack, known as poena cullei (Latin for "penalty of the sack"), was a brutal execution method reserved specifically for parricide—the murder of one's parents or close relatives. The execution process involved several distinct and ritualistic stages:Preparation: The condemned was first stripped, beaten with blood-red rods, and had their head covered in a wolf's skin. The Sack: They were sewn into a large, heavy leather sack. The Animals: A chaotic assortment of live animals was placed inside the sack with them, historically including a dog, a viper (snake), a monkey, and a rooster (or cock).Execution: The sack was sealed and hurled into the sea or the nearest deep body of water to drown.
