Tv and video games.

Semi automatic weapons.

When i was a kid people had a shotgun and a rifle.

Publicity

Names of shooters should never be public.
Shooters should be drawn and quartered.
No whining about their shitty lives.

Think about how people treat their own kids. There are countless examples of babies being born hooked on drugs, moms not providing basic care (like feeding their babies) and you'll see how it's not surprising how someone could devalue some random strangers' lives.

These are not the people who perpetrate mass shootings.

We have a mental health problem in this country that cannot be medicated away. Family structures have broken down, social media creates high levels of anxiety and depression, and people do not have the mechanisms needed to cope

And?? So did most people. What does being a kid have to do with it?

This I will agree with. Social media particularly

I didn’t hear the shooters name mention on TV at all yesterday. I had to go to the Internet to find his name.

Still haven’t heard anything about the Ohio shooter yet

We don’t see people as real living beings any longer. They’re just a username and avatar.

You see it out on the street. People have their eyes glued to their phones. Standing at a crosswalk they just walk when everyone else walks still glued to their phone. Never once checking to make sure the path is clear. They just follow like lemmings presuming all is safe and good because someone else went ahead of them.

In bars and restaurants. They sit down and everyone at the table pulls out their phone. Little to no conversation is had.

The selfie craze. People use to go to a beautiful place and take photos of the place. Sure the family might ask someone to take a photo of the family as well. Now, it's all about me, me, me in the photos. That special place or beautiful setting is just a backdrop of my selfie. Mid 20's women seem to be the worst at this.

Experiencing life, things and activities just to experience and enjoy them. A friend got a Lambo a few years back and I posted about it on the OT. Half of the comments were "let's see the video". Why the frick would I take a video? I was enjoying the experince, the company of my friend and the moment I was in.

The downvoters know deep down it’s correct. If people truly followed Gods word there would be no shootings period and that includes the urban violence that the left loves to ignore due to their racist roots.

Most of them are done by young adult males.

They don't want to hear it, but their brains are addled by video games, pot, SSRIs, social media, estrogen mimickers in the water, anime, and God only knows what else. They end up homosexual, if not asexual, and exhibit a deep bitterness as a result.

How many of these shooters have any history whatsoever of engaging the mental health treatment resources? As a child, teen, or adult? You can't mandate/force someone to treatment.

Do you understand what’s going on inside that guys head when he’s walking in a place of business just to kill? What triggered him? Why he decided that he was going to do what he did?

Exactly. People want to say well, there were 10 gang shootings in Chicago this weekend. We get that and know what's going on there. We don't like it but we know what's going on. Or there are so many single murders that occur that the number of deaths dwarfs those killed in mass shooting. We get those too. We don't like it and we don't like the reasons but the reasons for those murders are age old. Family, crime, jealousy, whatever.

What we don't understand is what causes a person to have such hatred or rage that they decide to go into a school, or a Walmart or a crowded theater and open up on people and in many instances people that are complete strangers to them.

I’ll get downvoted for this, but it’s a lack of respect for human life that comes with a more secular society. Life isn’t valued or respected as it once was. Lots of reasons for this. Too many snow flakes to address them tho.

This doesn't agree with the downward trend in homicides the last few decades though

there to be a difference in coverage due to the media environment in which the shootings occurred. Evidence
from an archive then showed that shootings tripled in numbers around the same year that social media use
skyrocketed.

You know that's not what they mean.

I get the point they're making. Organized religion provides a structure for people to live their lives by. It is useful, I suppose, in that aspect. But shite was also really bad for lots of people when all of that was still in place. Tell a slave that all is well since they had a nuclear family and church. That's just an example, not trying to make a race thing out of it. People were lynched, native Americans were rounded up and forced off their land. Point is, lots of bad shite happened to relatively innocent people as well before the collapse of the American nuclear family and the church.

So it's not that simple either.

Probably because there are numerous countries that don’t teach God in schools and yet don’t have mass shooting crises

It’s not the lack of religion. It’s the lack of positive structure in people’s lives.

I’d go even further to say we don’t really have communities like we used to. Growing up, I lived next to the same people for years. They looked out for each other.

Now? My parents are surrounded by rental homes with people coming and going. Kids don’t really get out and play anymore like they used to. And this is what used to be a middle class neighborhood.
