Why, they say small amounts of wine are even good for you! It won't do me any harm if I take just one little drink..." Well you know what is going to happen. Never forget that the human race with technology is just like an alcoholic with a barrel of wine."

Collective society is dumbed down. People are more prone to believe fantasy than reality. Communication skills are decreasing.
Technology is amazing, but the way it's being used by many is destroying civility and class.

People can't stop looking at their phone to pay attention to the road while driving.

The instant gratification of use of smartphones and iPads has shown to be significantly detrimental to brain development in children across several studies.
Young kids really should never be on a smart phone or iPad.

I'm on the last episode of the Discovery Channel series on the Unabomber. Funny this came up.
It's hard to say if it's been a net benefit or detriment. The reality is we can never unring the bell once something exists. And every invention will be evaluated for potential weaponization. Now we can kill people thousands of miles away behind a computer screen.
Reminds me of the Einstein quote about not knowing what weapons WWIII would be fought with but knowing that WWIV would be fought with sticks and stones.
Can't dwell on it though. Life goes on.

Not just that. It's the fringe morons who represent a miniscule part of society yet with social media, they can find each other all over the globe.
It's one of the best and worst things about social media/internet in general.

1. Decrease in quality human interaction (primarily face to face). Increase in self-absorbed behaviors
2. Gives a voice to psychos and miserable people. Former lone wolves now can network with other to spread their miserable rhetoric. And the media eats it up. Two people on twitter complaining about something now gets articles like “People now believe clouds to be racist” or some bullshite like that

People are no longer patient because technology has made everything instant.

100% social media.
The uprate of being connected for youngins'.
Point being, growing up in a different time, there was time to disconnect. Kids these days are always in the circles.
No escape.
Would suck I think.

Yeah, it's mainly social media that's become detrimental to society. Most other forms of technology has been very beneficial.

More importantly, these fringe morons can leverage their fringe opinions to appear they have more numbers than in reality and create fake credibility. This is Twitter's business model basically, there's a few thousand real people on Twitter while the majority are fake bots they can muster to appear as if there are far more people and direct these fake people to mount campaigns against their political enemies.

Good far outweighs the bad.
Anyone who argues against this is pretty dumb. Look at what medicine has been able to achieve in the last decades thanks to technological innovations (robotic non-invasive surgeries, genome mapping, stem cell research, targeted cancer therapies just to name a few). Not to mention how it has benefited every industry in existence today and has greatly improved quality of life and simultaneously increasing life expectancy.
But some people are addicted to being on their iphones so I guess that means technology is bad?
FWIW, Social Media is essentially a webpage, nothing new technologically speaking, really just everyone has their own website now.
