Ya booze makes all of the difference for me as well

Booze screws up blood sugar levels and makes you feel more hungry. No more drinking during the week for me. Weekends are a different story.

You can take my food, but you'll never take my alcohol.

The Body preferentially processes booze over food.
Literally one of the worst things you can do is drink and eat food.
better to eat food, wait an hour (like swimming) then get loaded.
Even better...dont eat and drink a case of beer.

This!
Kidding aside, I lost about 30 lbs. over the course of a year by changing my diet for the better, increasing exercise and slightly cutting down on alcohol intake and, in my mind, most importantly, switching my alcohol intake from mostly beer and some spirits to mostly red wine and some spirits.

I've read that it also shuts down our ability to burn fat while it is being processed.

Big boned huh? Right. You could be 180 and lean.
But why? I don't get the toothpick look. Stack some muscle. Put some meat on them bones.

Definitely happy I don't have to watch what I eat or drink. I eat mass amounts of whatever I want and don't gain a pound.

Or, switch to good alcohol and drink it like a man...in a glass, straight, or with a little water
hard liquor, no matter the level, sucks.

I was like that too, until about 25.
Now I'm 5'11" and 195. Need to get Down to about 175. Down from 200 in the last week though

Couple years out of college and behind a desk, combined with working for an oilfield company and always having food from vendors around, and it's a recipe for fat

Dropped 12 pounds over the last month or so, just by moderating my eating. If I'd just get off my lazy arse, no telling what I could do....
Posted on 7/17/15 at 9:42 pm to FightinTigersDammit
That's basically what I'm doing. I'm not eating any different than I did before, besides portion size. And I ride the exercise bike for 30 min here and there

I don't drink, but I had gotten lazy over the last 3 years. I stopped working out, stopped running, and stopped making healthy decisions (too much junk food, bruh!). I am 5' 9" (...and a half...seriously
) and weighed 232 in mid May. I am now at 196. I feel great! I almost resemble that 23 year old who left active duty in the USMC in 2000. I am definitely not as strong or as fast, but that is to be expected. If you have not joined the weight loss thread on the food board, bring your thinner arse over there!
Good job!
Good job!

I'm 30 and still hang around 7.5-8% body fat. I eat very poorly by most people's standards, drink 2-3 red bulls a day, have a couple of beers a night, and pretty much eat myself to sleep. I speed walk about 10 miles a day at work, while lifting and pushing random heavy stuff throughout the day. I was an athlete for 17 years, my motor is always in overdrive. I'll just say that I WISH I was 5'9.5! Not even going to list my height.

Yep.
I replace meals with beer anyway. I'll neve give up beer.
