The 13-year-old boy arrested in the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy on Friday appeared Monday in juvenile court, where a judge found enough evidence to proceed with the case against the teen, setting his bail at $15,000.
quote:
Investigators agreed the two children had been playing outside among a group of people who at some point had talked about making a rap video. Later, the 13-year-old went inside his house and came back with a gun, Moore said.
quote:
Prosecutors allege the 13-year-old then pointed the gun at Jahiem and fired.
Juvenile or not, accident or intentional, there is a small child dead. How is it bail is set at 15k? More importantly, why are no charges pending towards the parent(s)?

I read an article yesterday that said the 6 year old and 13 year old were arguing and the 13 year old got a gun and shot the 6 year old.
Which to me sounded mind-blowingly unbelievable. Is what I read yesterday not true?

Why do you hate freedom and the Constitution?

This explains so much about today's young teens. They look up to these people waving around guns, talking about abusing women, strippers and unlimited pussy.

Seems like a danger to others to me.

How come when I was 13 I didn't have access to a loaded handgun?
Cuz I was 12 and properly trained.

Keeping a 13 year old in lockup somewhere, even juvenile lockup, is begging for something awful to happen and for the parish to get sued to hell.

Unless he knows how to drive a car, he’s going to have to get someone to drive him to wherever. A bike will only get him so far.

ummm... no. This has nothing to do with the constitution, as last I read, detention for murder or manslaughter does not violate the 8th amendment.

Well, he has killed somebody and it is apparent he does not have proper parental supervision... sooooo...

This has to be a punch to pro Second Amendment folks, doesn't it?
Yeah, I know guns don't kill, people kill, in this case a child kills.
But, I can easily hear gun control enthusiasts saying if the family didn't even have the gun, the young child would still be alive.
However, IMO, it goes far beyond Second Amendment. It can be argued that if there were no guns, the 13 year old could have just pick up a kitchen knife and kill.
It goes back to society and the lack of respect people have to others, including family. Not loyalty to the country, family, etc.
You won't see this in Japan or other countries, other than very isolated cases.
We need respect for others to be instilled very early in life, and this comes from a Mom and Dad, then backed up in the educational system

The purpose of bail is to make sure the accused shows up at trial. It isn't a punishment. In our system, we aren't supposed to punish someone until they have had a trial. This 13 year old who is charged with negligent homicide (not intentional killing) hasn't had a trial and was apparently determined not to be a flight risk.
Why do you think bail should be higher?

Honestly, I'd like to know if the gun was legal and if it was in fact "the uncle's" or if it belonged to a felon in the house.
I am pro second amendment and my firearms are locked where my children cannot get a hold of them. Banning guns is not the solution.
Bingo.

My heart breaks for his mother. Everything that’s wrong in that one tragic story.

Imprisonment or detention, regardless if 13 or 34 for this kind of crime, in my opinion, is not cruel or unusual punishment. How would a higher bail of 100k be excessive considering the kid sought out the firearm, pointed it, and pulled the trigger on a 6 year old. How would detention until trial constitute cruel and unusual punishment?
Why do you think the bail is sufficient?

His AAU basketball coach was probably able to show that he was invaluable to the team.
