We go to St Angela Merici for church because it's the most convenient

My concern with sending her there is that it's a smaller school, and I don't really know anyone who has experience with how they are academically

Are Sacred Heart and Berkman considered Catholic? Do they teach Catholicism?

The girls I knew that went to St Angela Merici were really nice and very smart.

But I’m in my early 40’s

The very smart girls in my high school class went to St Catherine (among other grammar schools). But that was a long time ago.

Can you just get into St Catherine? Or do you think you should join there?

It wouldn't hurt to join I'm sure, but my wife and I have certain advantages related to St Catherine that would allow our daughter to get accepted

I appreciate you tell me that you had a positive experience with girls that went to St Angela.

Lafayette and LC above Nola and BR

If you havent been to Baton Rouge the past 5 years then you havent seen the sharp decline.

So, yes Lafayette for SURE over BR. I would take LC over BR. STM

Nola is different.

You think we like it? 90% of the posters on this board who still live around here are only here because of family. Nobody WANTS to not be able to send their kids to public schools. There's literally no alternative.

I wouldn’t send my kids to public school anywhere in the country. Especially with all the indoctrination happening at schools and some of the transplanted teachers.

Thankfully we have the means to send my son private.

Yes, Sacred Heart is affiliated with the Sacred Heart in New Orleans that is being talked about in this thread.

it used to be a good little school - I’m hoping it still is (just to satisfy my memory )

There are no good ‘little’ Catholic schools in BR. It’s very disappointing. There are no St Angela Mericis or St Christophers up here. It’s all go big or go home type mentality. Cut throat, elitist and not very Catholic at all.

How are admissions at Fatima? We didn't even apply, everyone who I know that sends their kids there, went there. Just curious if it's as competitive as Pius and Cathedral.

Interesting. Our school was playing a tennis match against SHGC, and some of the AES kids were saying it was a Catholic school. One of the SHGC parents corrected them and said it was a Christian School. I dated several girls from there in high school and always thought it to be Catholic.

Catholics are Christians - so why are you confused?

St.Angela is still a good school. We looked at St.Clement, St. Catherine, and St. Angela for my son.

Ultimately decided on St. Francis Xavier, but all of them had their positives.

so why don’t you just go where you go to church? It’s changed that much?

Interesting.

Because the parent was doing it for a specific reason.

Sacred Heart is in fact a Catholic school and should be addressed as such.

Not Christian, Catholic. Catholic is the Christian religion, not part of it. The others are part of what we started, not vice versa.

Never forget that.

Interesting. Maybe Louisiana as a whole bc so family and friend oriented vs other states with folks moving there for jobs and it’s not home.

Typically, Christian schools are non-denominational. Catholic schools are called Catholic.
