I’m going to give you the phone number to my guy Stanka. He’s an expert at showing out of town baws a good time around BR.

That should be just enough time to get from the bridge to the 10/12 split.

Lay low. Stay away from the north side of town. And the east side. And the south side. And the west side.

Take the Plaquemine ferry to go play golf at the island
I didn't take the ferry, but I did play The Island today - a fair test of golf, but still fun to play. That's a nice little track, thanks for the suggestion

The BR Ruth's Chris is really good. The kitchen there has their shite together.

If you haven't been in a while, go tour Nottoway Plantation. They've changed a few things up recently.

Don't mean to sound like a steak snob - Ruth's Chris is good for a chain steakhouse but it sounds like BR is ripe for some high-end steak restaurants. If you ever come to the OKC metro try Mahogany, or The Ranch, or Boulevard, or Red Prime. Eating steak here would be like travelling to OKC for some good creole cooking.

It started in Louisiana. I think the one in BR is the second restaurant and much better than other RC locations

The escape rooms at 13th Gate are top tier.
I always thought the Rural Life museum at I-12/Essen was an interesting place. Pretty cheap and captures a slice of 1800’s life we don’t usually see.

Go take a scenic drive down Hwy 30 from LSU to Gonzales. It’s breathtaking out there…

I have steak all over the place. I’ve also made a mistake trying seafood from anywhere but south Louisiana and rarely does it meet the standard and most of the time absolutely sucks.
There are great steakhouses everywhere, but not so much for great seafood.
My personal favorite right now Does Eat Place. Sirloin is my favorite cut and they have it perfected.
I ate at Fleming’s for my birthday a couple of months ago and I found it to be quite good even though it was a filet because they don’t serve sirloin.
The point is that there are excellent steakhouses everywhere you go but not so much for seafood and Baton Rouge has “high-end” steak covered really well AND we have excellent seafood of course.

You forgot to tell him to be sure and wear a pink shirt while filling up the rental car's tank at one of the local gas stations there.

You're not wrong. Not sure why people here flip out over Ruth's. Their "secret" is to drown everything in butter. They do have very good service, but it's just typical steakhouse food.
Upscale/dressy dining:
French Market Bistro, Gino's, Mansur's, Juban's, The Colonel's Club, Stab's, Nino's
More casual/fun:
The Chimes (on campus), Superior Grill (Highland), City Pork, Rocca, BRQ
DiGuilio's is a great Italian restaurant close to campus, but they don't take reservations. It's in the fun category, but not just a casual pizza place.
Out of town:
Tour Houmas House (in Darrow not far from BR) and eat at the Carriage House. They serve amazing food in a stunning dining room. And the gardens are really well done, if that's your thing.
Tour The Myrtles (in St. Francisville) and then eat at Restaurant 76 on the property. Seriously good food in a fun atmosphere. The Myrtles does an evening ghost tour, which is fun. Also, The Saint down the road is very good, but a little more unique in food offerings. Located in a beautifully remodeled old house.
I highly recommend grabbing reservations at any in the top list and also Superior. A ton of people are coming to town next weekend, and it gets busy!
