Austin still can't get another interstate.

I mean 90 is basically just a shitty interstate

My recommendation was to move the corridor south to use that bridge instead of building a new bridge just 30 miles to the north. Voila...a $1 billion savings. But I-69 would only clip the SE corner of Arkansas.

That’s what they ended up doing because there is existing infrastructure at the base of the current bridge to divert off Hwy 82 and begins I69 and go around Greenville

I hope that 49 is eventually done. If they bring the areas south of Lafayette and near Morgan City up to interstate grade that would probably shave at least 30 minutes off of my trips home.

Yeah I would take 90 now without it being I-49 if I have to go from Lafayette to New Orleans. It’s interstate grade for a big chunk of it and barely longer than I-10 through Baton Rouge where you never know what traffic will be like.

They wanted I-69 to pass through the Arkansas delta as much as possible for economic development of that area.

Funny thing is building the Hwy will destroy the towns it goes through because it loops around them. For example I69 goes south of Greenville while currently HWY 82 goes right through the center. Traffic will divert and it will destroy businesses in north Greenville which is the black part of town. All the white people live on the southern part of Hwy 1 in Greenville and would be the only ones to possibly see any benefit from I69 traffic

I think Texas is the hold up on I-69.

It is MUCH needed.

Having a north south interstate coming out of Houston and South Texas would take a huge amount of traffic off of I-10.

So much traffic on I-10 is thru trucks trying to get to I-55, I-59 and I-65 and deliver to northern markets.

If they don't hurry up we should build a toll road from Vinton to I-20 in Monroe or from Vinton to Bogalusa running 20 0r 30 miles north of I-10 (the Zachary Taylor Parkway would be close to this--such a road would also also a loop around Baton Rouge.)

We really should take all our interstates in Louisiana to tolls given the huge amount of thru traffic we have---we could use the funds to build these other toll roads.

We are headed to tolls of some sort as electric cars become more of the norm.

It’s dumb. I-69 should run from Intercourse, PA to Spread Eagle, WI.

But seriously, I worked on a project in 2008 with I-49 south. Ridiculous

I’ve seen the signs on HWY 82 between Magnolia and El Dorado that say “Future I-69 corridor.” I wish they would build it. It would cut my daily commute way down if I could drive 70+mph on the interstate for a portion of it. I live in NWLA and work in South Arkansas. We all know it won’t happen though.

I agree that it's needed.

BTW - Tennessee and the Memphis suburbs south of the border in Mississippi built their portion. But there is talk of another river crossing.

Lol growing up in south texas we heard about i69 for years and had those funky “future 69 corridor” signs everywhere

Then they just ended up slapping i69 signs all over the US281 expressway

Did the same around Houston with 59
