In addition to I-49 south of Lafayette any chance Louisiana ever gets I-69 built?

First of all.... nice...
I found a website from 2003 with no updates and a Shreveport times article from 2016 saying “push to make progress on I-69 underway” and that was 5 years ago.
It’s amazing how we ever got the interstate system built with how long it takes to do anything these days.

This looks like a completely pointless interstate.

But why

Agreed. Who is this for?
Eta: maybe makes more sense when you can see the whole corridor
Regardless, I'm more interested in I14

This, not sure there is much of an economic payoff for building an interstate highway through that part of the country.

This looks like another pork barrel project to me.

Funny you get north of Memphis and it’s almost completed but nobody’s done shite here. They’ve had the overpasses and exit ramps for it built here in the delta for like 10 years. I think it’s gotten overgrown

More direct path for drug trafficking. Not many existing highways to get from Mexico to Canada in a straight line.

What’s the purpose of that dog leg between Monticello and Clarksdale?
I think Hedley Lamar wants the train to go thru Rock Ridge.

Once again Texas is more on the ball than anywhere else. Texas has I-14 segments already open before the other states even started a commission to start a commission on it.

that would be
would shave off at least 30-45 minutes from the drive from Spring/The Woodlands to the inlaws in Bossier City.

I know exactly why that dog leg is there.
At the time the corridor was established, Bill Clinton was President and Rodney Slater was the Secretary of Transportation. Both Arkansas natives. They wanted I-69 to pass through the Arkansas delta as much as possible for economic development of that area.
That corridor required a new bridge over the MS River which at the time would cost nearly $1 billion dollars. No telling what it would cost today. I was on the committee to study how to reduce costs for that proposed bridge.
30 miles to the south of the proposed I-69 bridge location, there is a new bridge over the MS River between Lake Village and Greenville. My recommendation was to move the corridor south to use that bridge instead of building a new bridge just 30 miles to the north. Voila...a $1 billion savings. But I-69 would only clip the SE corner of Arkansas.

All of these proposals are pointless IMO

Logansport and Haynesville are booming towns. Needs to be completed ASAP.

I-49 South nor I-69 will ever see the light of day in this state.

I saw this recently on the Shreveport news. Last I heard, it was a thing that is gonna happen. It'll serve to complete the loop IIRC. They are continuing 220 into Barksdale, south of i20, and they have the land available to continue 3132 at Fornay Lucas or whatever, which would hit i69 and bring you back to 20 where you could go to north bossier a few exits away back west at i220.
This and i14 would be huge for La. Really if they would just finish i49 it would be huge for La.

It already exists in like 9 or 10 smaller disjointed parts. It absolutely would be useful, in the La/Tx context.
