I see a lot of comments about how the 'coronavirus' is a fluke and not too many people taking it at face value.
Here in Boston, the situation is serious.
I gather that most of the population of this board is geographically biased to the southern part of the country and haven't had this become an 'all hands on deck' problem yet.
I'm as upset as anyone all these events are being postponed/cancelled but it's important we contain this thing.
Feel free to down-vote but in the end it's really important as individuals we don't screw this up. As someone on the front-lines, it's serious.
**Edit** "Define Serious" - I'm saying there is zero economic activity going on, the hospitals(Which we have three of the top ten hospitals in the world) are beginning to start pitching tents in parking lots, shelves of supermarkets are emptying
It just seems like a big joke on this board, and I'm not being preachy and probably need to take more precautions myself but this is not going anywhere anytime soon. I wouldn't quite call it panic yet but we are close.

I know someone who was told to self quarantine because the doctor had no means of testing.
If that doesnt bother you I don't know what will.

My buddy from childhood lives in SF and works at Trader Joe’s. He’s freaked out. He just sent me this text :
quote:
Yeah we are good here health wise. This town is an utter chaos it is so bizarre was happening here. K’s hotel is almost deserted everybody's canceling travel here. All the companies are telling people to work from home the only people who are working any more is me selling the food. We've had record numbers the past two weeks. And they were out of groceries today at 3 today. Crazy man crazy because the Chinaman ate a bat. That's kind of a joke

The virus you Massachusetts people need to worry about getting rid of are the damn Kennedys. Then again They're more of a cancer than a virus.
