what would it be like in America if attorneys didn't exist. let's say that the judges were not attorneys and you represented yourself.

The prison population would be a hell of a lot higher.

Well, when Lonnie Chautin hits the pipe yard drunk and drops a huge pipe on your leg you'll be thankful for an attorney then. Or when Baylee divorces you and wants full custody of Aiden, Bayden, and Hayleigh and the Yeti you'll again be happy that lawyers are around.

No imagine a world where the losers of court cases had to pay the winner's court / lawyer fees. Would cut down on a huge portion of frivolous lawsuits.

Accused of rape and get found not guilty? Accuser has to pay.

Accused of not having a safe environment for customers and get exonerated? Accuser has to pay.

Accused of copyright bullshite you didn't do? Accuser pays.

Basically if you get called to court to defend yourself, you don't have to pay a dime if you are exonerated.

with attorneys......ole Lonnie might be able to get off the hook because his lawyer is good at spinning it.

whereas........me and old Lonnie rep ourselves and he's fricked because he can't lie as good without his attorney coaching him.

Making people pay for damages that they caused? Not saying it isn't taken advantage of sometimes but there is a need for them.

You realize that this happens a lot, right?

Besides, poor plaintiff that got into a car accident and is suing for millions likely doesn't have a pot to piss in anyway, so good luck collecting court costs.

You also run the risk of essentially making the judicial system unavailable to poor people. I agree that there are a ton of frivolous law suits filed, but the constitution prevents you from making the judicial system only available to people that can afford to pay court costs. Hell, that's why contingency fee arrangements are there in the first place.

Life and medical Insurance would be cheaper without the frivolous lawsuits. Less pussies around because disputes would be handled by fisticuffs or weapons.

If you actually think it is lawyers driving up the cost of insurance, then you really need to go actually look into that issue.

Also good luck when that drunk Doctor operates on the wrong knee without an attorney

Everyone hates lawyers until you need one.

Look you don't have to wonder what a world would look like without a functional legal system with lawyers than can actually do things. Just look at the European monarchies of the Middle Ages. The law was whatever the king said, and he could change his mind whenever. And the common man got fricked unfairly constantly.

You really have no idea what it is you are asking for.
