Nice work man. Send yourself a bill for 6,500

Nope, state gets to pay for this one.

Well you showed them!!!!!!!!
Posted on 4/9/25 at 3:25 pm to eitek1
Yeah that will be your next case. The State of Louisiana doesn’t pay legal liabilities.

The state won't issue you a driver's license without a SS# either...

Depends on the state. Most states do pay, however only about 50% of teachers pay in since some of the more populated states don't.
Louisiana, California, Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Massachusetts, Illinois are some the states that opted out.

Well good for you.
Still not exactly sure what harm was repaired here, and why any of my tax dollars had to be wasted to adjudicate it, but little SA can apply for his license now. Congrats!

what harm has been caused to you or your son that needs a court to rectify?
I'm late to the game, but i would say that it has harmed his child by depriving him of the ability to obtain a learners permit/drivers license. The point is not that he could avoid the problem by obtaining a SSN. The point is that the state of louisiana is violating a federal statute that prohibits anyone from requiring a SSN in order to obtain a drivers license.

Because the Office of Motor Vehicles had a policy in direct violation of State and Federal law. It's just that simple.
Should state agencies be able to make policies in violation of the law?

Well, I’ll be damned…you did it!
Posted on 4/9/25 at 6:18 pm to eitek1
Awesome! It was obvious by your first post that you were correct. What wasn’t obvious was the state doing the right thing and complying. Bravo, sir. You found an error in our government and you walked the walk. 99% of us on this board would just bitch about it but you actually took action.

You have to use ID on tax forms and you have to pay into social security by law with a job. This is a wildly unnecessary hill to die on.

At this point, I'm actually starting to doubt that. I've got 25 pages of people saying "You're wrong", "You're an idiot" and folks that either appear to or claiming to practice law telling me that the judge is going to toss this.
They were ALL wrong. So he DOES have to have a Tax ID to file taxes bit I'm starting to doubt that it HAS to be a SS#. Maybe it does but I'm done listening to those that "know better" than I do.
I'm going to start doing my own research on this.
